It felt very non-touristy and the full kitchen with microwave, stovetop and refrigerator was great. The bathroom had plenty of space. I would highly recommend this hotel to any travellers that are looking for a way to integrate themselves into Berlin vs. staying in a hotel. The proximity to the U2 line is excellent and since it's only one stop away from Alexanderplatz connecting is easy. Ideally located next to train station centrally located for Berlin. Wireless Internet access worked very well, Comfortable beds, very quiet area (occasional bus and emergency services sounds), good kitchen, very clean, lots of space, everything from microwave to corkscrew, Ikea decor.

The location.The wireless internet was terribly unreliable while I was there. While you could pick up the signal there was an issue with an inability to access the internet. This was apparently a known problem and had not been corrected prior to my arrival and persisted until my departure. They may be addressing this issue but in my short time there it was not corrected. Shower OK in bathtub, but bath was a bit slippery for my wife, and the shower curtain didn't stop water from the floor. The smoker downstairs caused the apartmentto smell, but this cannot really be helped.We needed more toilet paper than the three rolls provided. (6 people over 4.5 days) We didn't realize till Sunday , and then we made it work. Nothing. The price worths it. The shower never really got hot water, it was quite cold (the wagner room). Bed not the best.Noise from neighbours. Some nights it was a bit noisy. There is a bar downstairs (not really inthe building but still...). We stayed 5 nights and the room has not beencleaned/towels changed meanwhile. That would have been fine though.the apartment was a bit sparse, just the essentials. Also the fact they would have charged us an extra 4% if we paid by credit card. None. Kitchen equipment and facilities could improve. OK for breakfast - not suitable for dinner preparations. The wifi was not good. The signal was very weak.Maybe the lack of an elevator - it really was not at all a problem for us, but might be for some. impossible to have dark in the room. Our apt was on the 4th floor with no elevators. Normally this would not have been a problem, but we were traveling with small children and a lot of luggage. Beds not too comfortable. No elevator to a fifth flloor. Coud do with more tourist info. Some night noise from adjacent courtyard. Being on the top floor with no lift was difficult. Our fold out double bed was also a little broken so a little uncomfortable.you had to ask for clean towels, that was all. The rest was perfect!. Noise in the back yard one night.

Please note that check-in is in a different location from the apartments. The check-in address for all apartments is Pappelallee 21, 10437 Berlin. Please note that the apartments do not have a 24-hour reception. Please call the apartments 30 minutes prior to arrival (the mobile phone number will appear in your confirmation e-mail). In the interests of noise prevention, please note that Old Town Apartments may not be booked for parties. Please note that guests wishing to bring a car will require an Umweltplakette (fuel emission sticker) to enter central Berlin. This must be purchased in advance. Please note that the check-in and key-collection take place at: Pappelallee 21, 10437 Berlin. Please inform Old Town Apartments in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation.

by car: drive to Alexanderplatz (centre east) and go north on Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse. From there turn left onto Munzstr and immediatly right onto Rosa-Luxemburg-Strasse. Go straight until you reach Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Keep on going straight into Schönhauser Allee and then look out on the right side for house number 5.

public transport: Take the train to Alexanderplatz, then take the subway (U2) to Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. There you get out and walk to the right up the stairs, cross the street and follow Schönhauser Allee. Look for house number 5 on the right side.

by public transport: Take the train to Friedrichstr. Go downstairs and take the S1 or S2 north to Nordbahnhof. Leave the station in the opposite direction as the train was traveling at the end of the platform. Take a left at the exit and another left on the corner. The address is Gartenstr 92.
