  Surprisingly large and surprisingly quiet as well, Domus Academica is a good place for those who like minimalism and is seld-contained. There are several buildings, including houses for living, swimming pool and sauna (the two last-mentioned are free for visitors: every morning from 7 till 8:30 for women and from 8:30 till 10 for men). Each room has a separate bathroom and a tiny kitchen, while the houseware could be borrowed from the kitchen - We just needed a quiet place where we could cook food, and rest between shopping and sightseeing, without carpets on the floor. Since we both have to avoid certain foods, the cooking and opportunity to keep food cold was essential. It was very cheap compared to other self-catering options, and the windows effectively shut out noise from the streets. There wasn't an endless party going on as in some hostels. On other hand I have stayed in 3* hotels in some countries including uk and France where rooms were even smaller!

  It was my second time there and Eurohostel is still good. Breakfast is a buffet with multiple yummy dishes (and I'm a fan of Finnish meatballs). It costs €8.50. I could see Mariella (Viking's ferry) from my room. They have free morning sauna, in the evening you have to pay €7.50 for sauna access card.   Very comfortable, clean and quite hostel. Very fast internet (WiFi) and a large free parking.There is a kitchen, sauna, nice swimming pool, and a grill outside. We were staying there in July and there were no mosquitos at all though the window in the room was always open.   My wife and i stayed one night in this hotel between flights. It is very close to the airport. Just go to the Terminal 2 arrivals and cath the bus from stand number 10/11. Is right in front of the door of the terminal e where the supermarket is. Get the free blue bus that make the route T1-T2-Parking Lot 4a and Parking Lot 4b. THe hotel is - Forenom Hotel was very very good for us - tourists who likes to prepare the food themselfs, who didn't need SPA & ******, who are not reach. Everythings was usefull and clean - kitchen, showers, WFi! And one of the best things is very simple connection with Airport (7 min. on foot) and with Helsinki (3 min. on foot to the Bus Stop, 4,5 Euro/pers in 40 min).   Beds were very comfortable, the staff was very very nice, and breakfast buffet for €6 was a blast! It might not be in the very center of Helsinki, but has so many attractions nearby, more than in the center. Many buses and the train pass close. Big lockers! (Just bring your lock ;-) ). Even do the booking had me and my mom on separate rooms (1 for... what people say » males and 1 for females) they do have mixed rooms, and since it's such a big hostal, they put us in one by ourselves; very nice from them. Overall: - Location is nice. About 2 km from the bus station and city center. 3 km from the ferry docks. Rooms are well maintained, chair for everybody. Each bed has its own 2 plugs and light. They also give you towels if you request. Buffet breakfast for 6.30 €. Common room for tv and kitchen. Staff was helpful. If you walk 2km downtown, there you can take the airport shuttle.
