friendly, funny and helpful staff. they speak english pretty well and make it feels like home. very nice and smart design for such small place. pretty clean for chinese standard. would recommend especially a solo traveller who would like to stay late drinking at the bar. easy to find from metro station line 2 and near a very lively Nanjing road. all reviews » We stayed in a double room for one night only and were happy with the hostel. Nice big, clean room with a great view, big new bathroom. Shanghai Blue Mountain Bund Youth Hostel is a hidden in a side road (great as not too noisy) but has a GREAT location, about 3-4 minutes to Nanjing Road metro station. You need to look for the sign though as there is a few hotels/hostels in the same building. Staff was friendly and spoke good english. There are plenty of places to eat around as well as supermar. It was a pleasant surprise for me. The hostel was clean, and had a relaxing and casual environment. I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm for only one night, but would have easily stayed longer had I had the time. On my next excursions to Shanghai, I will stay there if its convenient. I also liked the luggage storage system. Very close to the bund and small shops away from the "strip" where the vendors will rip off unsuspecting tourists sometimes and things r overpriced. Really liked the staff. Only complaint being sketchy in room wifi which forced me into very chilly common area. Good location between the Bund and People's Square. Nanjing Street and its metro station are near. But of you take another street you will walk into a local market. Lots of different kinds of restaurants nearby. Clean bath room. The location is excellent. you can go anywhere you want easily! nanjingdonglu station is one of the best spot in shanghai. The public area is clean, wide, provides wifi. The guys in the reception are not friendly to helping you with some advices about places, they dont care about that. the girls instead have a good customer service. No wifi in the rooms and only place with wifi close at 1. If you are planning to use their laundry service, you'll have to wait for free washing mashine (there are only three of them) and free dryers (only 3 or 4). I think everything was cool, I don't have any complain. Nothing. If people make noise in the corridor you know it. But it was not too bad. Some people spoke loudly around midnight but the rest of the night was quiet. The bed sheets are tired (holes). Restaurant and bar could be better, serving more then cold drinks. Only that the bathroom was a little far away from our single room and that you need to notify if you want to have your room made. - guys and girls mix bathroom. Space in room, toilet and bathroom are too small. Rooms quite hot,. the girl staff not very friendly. there wasn't consistently hot water. Space in the room, toilet and bathroom are extremely small. Washing machine and drier did not perform well. Rinsing and dryer failed! I paid R20 for washing and drying and waited for 2 hours but need to manually dry my clothes agaim.
