It was quite "one of those special places" - so unique. Beautifully presented with a calm and tranquil ambience. The rooms are lovely with warm woods with shutters that open completely. It is located in an interesting area, easy to walk around. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel was quiet and well maintained. The architecture and surrounds fitted into the theme of the hotel name. I would definitely recommend it to others as a change from commercial chain hotels.

Breakfast a little lacking in variety. Slightly hard (for a taxi driver) to find. Sparse minibar. Wine not the greatest. Nothing. The hotel is far from bus station (around 10mins cab) and there are no transfers provided by the hotel, would be good to have a shuttle as it was difficult to find a cab back to hotel from the bus station. Coffee as elsewhere in China poor. Our suite room was big, spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the hotel has a wonderful zen-like atmosphere and charm about it. Maybe the breakfast menu could have included more types of food. A bit smelly in the bathroom due to some sewage problems, but that was a general problem in the area. Hotel is located off the street, so taxi drivers had a difficult time finding it. Limited English by some staff. Lack of punctuality by masseuse meant I missed a pre-booked massage. nothing. no lift, difficult to find for a taxi driver, noisy sorrounding during day time, old doors and windows.
