We had an amazing stay at the Burrard. Our room had a great downtown view onto Helmcken and it was very spacious. There was a desk which we set up as a tea station and the complimentary espresso pod machine made great Americanos in the morning. We loved the linens and the bathroom was a good size too, with lots of room to put toiletries. We loved the decor of the whole hotel and the courtyard was beautiful. all reviews » I loved the quirkiness of the place. There were very whitty signs on the walls to communicate information and the decor was fun. The staff were great and the free bicycle use fantastic as we spent one whole day biking around Vancouver. I am sure we would have had to spend well over $50 to rent two bikes for a day. The bedding was very soft and the bed comfortable. I also liked the parking arrangement as the car was very close at hand. The location made it very easy to get to all areas of the ci. Location was excellent with a great price for the area. Staff was great. Friendly and accommodating. Room was quaint and clean. Hotel has a unique charm. As a single traveler looking for good value the room was very sufficient. Bed was comfortable and great pillows. I'd recommend this hotel to family and friends. The location was excellent. While there was construction happening on the street outside, it was completely quiet in the room due to the location. All rooms open out to a courtyard with a view of the indoor garden atop the roof of the parking garage which was lovely to look at. The hotel was recently renovated. Funky new furniture and branding was a nice touch! We loved the free wifi, Nesspresso coffee in our room and use of the bikes. Oh, and the complimentary umbrellas to make the rainy Vancouver weather bearable! The staff were super helpful and friendly, we would definitely stay here again. Great downtown location within easy walking distance of the harbour and the beach promenade. The ability to borrow free bikes made Stanley Park within easy reach and, with the many cycle routes in the city, was a great way to see the sights. No fan in the bathroom, but it's an old building and not the end of the world. What's not to love?. Nothing. The only thing was that there was not a fan in the bathroom so it got quite fogged up when showering. There was no bath in our room, the pillows were not particularly comfortable and the included breakfast was more just a muffin and juice/coffee. Rooms are a little past their prime but, for the money, this is a good value hotel. The entrance to the parking garage is secure but requires you to exit your vehicle to open it. The Skateboarding event was an unfortunate event which I had to endure after a long day trip to Victoria. Although we were given warning, it went much later than notified. It was an interesting experiment but I did not feel welcome at the hotel on that evening. Check in isn't until 4pm. They didn't have a kettle in the room or other small amenities like that but the front desk did supply hot water, so problem solved :). Nothing. All was super. Would have liked a tea kettle. My room was a bit noisy so I would request a room that isn't facing Burrard Street. We had room 204 which was at the front of the hotel. It was noisy and hot. Despite the outside temperature being 23 degrees the room was a constant 27. The room cooler (not air conditioner) was not use even though we put crushed ice in it. If the weather is warm you might want to try somewhere with air conditioning. I fell ill with bronchitis while in Vancouver, and the room was unheated so a bit chilly for us from Texas. Would have liked a double lock on door, especially since door/windows are facing outside courtyard. I didn't have any issues with it, but would have made it feel a little more secure. $20 per night parking charge - (Hint: $20 per stay would be more user friendly :) If you need plenty of room room or a good size bath, don't look here. Ditto if you dislike mid-century retro theme. Street front rooms were somewhat noisy from traffic and sirens. Only one elevator, and it's a bit slow. Luckily the hotel is only four floors, so I often ended up taking the stairs. Not a problem for me, but it could be for older guests with additional luggage. The free bikes were the clincher for me, wanted to tour Stanley Park but it was winter so they were in maintenance which would have been good to know in advance. The style is quirky and retro cool but the room was a little tired. We had trouble finding a restaurant close enough - not a fancy 'urban' type - to just have a quiet lunch. My husband couldn't walk too far, so going more than a couple of blocks was difficult. You can eat breakfast the whole day with your voucher (which is perfect because you can sleep longer than in most other hotels) - but you only get a coffee and a croissant or a bagel. Only bad thing is that currently there is a lot of construction around the building and it was located across the street from a hospital. A little noisy at times, but not unbearable by any means!. Being across the street from the hospital was a little concerning but we never heard any sirens our entire stay. It ended up not being a problem. I didn't have a great sleep, due to the the loud night club patrons wandering the streets.However, it is the city, after all.We intend on staying here again, and will be prepared. Only that it was right above a Seven 11 and there were some panhandlers outside, which gave the place a bit of a seedy feel. I can't think of any negatives!. Nothing. Not much counter in the bathroom. No extra cups in the room. There was a couple of paper cups in the room but when we threw them out, they weren't replenished the next day. The weather!. rooms lacked some space for luggage. Proximity to road/hospital meant some vehicle and siren disturbance at night. It would be nice if the bikes could be reserved. Coffee but no tea in room. Poor window/drape placement to get good ventilation on hot days and rooms have no AC. Suggest requesting a room that does not overlook Burrard St so you don't get the street noise and heat from the sun. The parking lot design and the late night music just outside our room.
