We spent 4 nights in the Nelligan and rate this amongst the best of our hotel experiences anywhere. Rooms were spacious and well furnished (exposed brickwork is very stylish). All of the staff we spoke to were extremely helpful and spoke both French and English fluently. It's well situated in Old Montreal (you'll need their valet parking which is reasonably priced) and is right in the middle of some lovely galleries, shops and restaurants. Yes, you'll pay a bit more for this hotel but it's def.
all reviews » We loved the feel of the hotel and the way it had been renovated to keep the charm of the exposed bricks and stone. The staff were outstanding and very helpful. The hotel is located right in the heart of Old Montreal and it is within easy walking distance of great restaurants, bars, art galleries, historic sights and the waterfront. We look forward to staying there again and again. Superb service by the staff. The room was gorgeous, clean, comfortable, and the best bathtub I've seen in any hotel I've stayed in recently. Lovely little promo as well to get free wifi and a free drink at the bar. Great hotel. On the higher end price wise, but was so great to treat ourselves for our anniversary, couldn't have asked for a more pleasant stay. Personnel gave you the comfortable feeling that they cared for you. Hotel's Restaurant VERSES has an excellent kitchen and good selection of wines. Personnel of Verses is also very professional and customer oriented. This will be our "home" during visits to Montreal which is fortunately only 2,5 hours by car from our Vermont home! Within walking distance to events on the pier, as well as downtown such as the annual Jazz festival, Chinatown, and 10min walk to a major metro station. The staff were superb, without exception. From check-in, to the bar staff, to the porters and doormen, all were friendly, efficient and happy to see you. Location was excellent, rooms were luxurious, and the wifi was free and worked well. The location is perfect for walking to all old town restaurants and bars. The staff, particularly concierge Nathalia, were all friendly, helpful, and professional. Room was clean and beautiful. She helped make it an even more memorable trip with her suggestions and advice. the service is very good and staffs are very pleasant! location is in the center of old town which is very convenient. Hotel Nelligan is well-situated near restaurants and shops in Old Montreal. The room combined style and comfort; the staff was attentive. The location of the hotel was great and the room was large, very comfortable with 2 windows. My sole complaint is that we were in a room close to the elevators. And because of this had quite a bit of traffic. This is understandable. But when the hotel staff and housekeeping are walking by discussing things before 7am and wake me up because they are speaking loudly, then I am annoyed. few loud guests on our penthouse 5th floor ... but inconsiderate people can also get in to best hotels as well. hold placed on my credit card was far higher than actual bill during the stay. There was some noise coming up from the lobby in the early evening, but after the large party had dispersed around 7 pm, all was fine. The biggest disappointment was no coffee maker in the room. Service at breakfast was slow and staff seemed confused. We waited a long time for everything. Prices in the bar/mini bar were high. Noise - we were warned there would be street noise on Saturday night but we also got noise from guests in the Terrace Restaurant on Sunday - probably around 1am. You might want to add a white noise machine of some sort as we ended up leaving the bathroom fan on - which helped some. We really loved everything, although they weren't able to make the rain stop:-). There was a bit of noise outside our room (room 301) in the evening and morning that was a bit disruptive. breakfast not included. nothing, it's perfect. A lot of noise at night from outside but that's because of central location. Nothing. Nothing. The high sales tax rate in Montreal - 15%! Be sure to calculate that into your costs. A little too pricey. Continental breakfast was average. Nothing. Breakfast way too expensive for average quality. Nothing. no swimming pool. Nothing. Noise in the restaurant / bar. For the cost expected the room to be in better shape and a bit more luxury. The carpet in our room was worn and needed to be stretched. Really needed to be replaced. Room was hot. Some appointments getting'tired'. Lamp shades etc. Montreal does not have much to offer. Cleaning staff was noisy in the hall ways in the morning, talking very loudly amongst eachother. The staff needs to be taugh to be more quiet and discreat. breakfast - 2 bagels and 2 coffee $36 need coffee maker in room. Hotel room was noisy and staff was not particularly attentive. We had stayed at their sister hotel (Auberge de Vieux Port) and were disappointed by Nelligan's overall experience in comparison.
