Really helpful and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Will definatly be staying at this hotel again. Quite difficult to find hotel parking due to one way systems and pedestrian streets but hotel staff were brilliant with directions. The location in the town centre. The friendly and comfortable ambience.If you want a location right in the heart of the old town of Gent , then the Novotel is an ideal choice. Great position , large comfortable rooms and an ideal base to explore the town. You are about 2.5km from St Pieters Railway Station , we walked it which took around 25 mins , but you can jump on a tram which will take you from the Station into the old town.

The absence of option of proper twin beds - one was a pull out sofa - adequate and presentable but a thinner mattress than a normal bed.If you have a car, forget it!!! there is a lot of roadworks around the centre of the town, many one way streets so don't even count on your GPS, better aim for the Vrijdagmarket, park in the underground parking (only 10 Euro, hotel is 16) and walk to the hotel (10 min), would we stay again? Yes. They charge 17Euro for breakfast per person which I personally think is too expensive. There should be another mirror in the bedroom near a socket and in a well lit area.'German' style wc. The hotel is in a pedestrian area and is not good for moving luggage. difficult to find, and difficult parking. Getting to the hotel by car was very difficult during peak traffic times.The drainage of the hotel was bad which caused a very bad smell in our room and in reception when you came into the hotel.. getting to it by car! Including a diagram giving the routes needing to be taken would be helpful. Even with SAT NAV, I went up one way streets the wrong way and drove through pedestrianised areas unwittingly.Difficult to reach by car. Parking of hotel full. the atmosphere in the hotel was not so cosy. unfortunately, the room only had one mirror, far away from the table in the hall of the the room, nowhere to do hair/make-up. i had to sit on the floor in the hall in very dim light-also no plug soccet near a mirror to dry hair. Also, at the bar we ordered 1 coffee and 2 pancakes. These were advertised for €5 for both a coffee and a pancake together-we had one less coffee and were charged €15. restaurantr was being refurbished so out of commission. Bar was often unmanned.Separate bathroom and toilet - a bit awkward. Internet access should be included in the price of the room, after all this is the 21:st century and IE-access is relatively cheap for the hotel to maintain. We invited our doughter, who is resident in Gent, for breakfast - EUR 17:00 for the full buffet is really a bit too much. The smell in the hotel was terrible. Also the sauna was not available (again).Very bad smell in the lobby, like a sewer. The garage is very small and difficult to access. Arrival to the hotel was difficult with the car because most of the streets around are pedestrian zone. What was writen at the site about the facilities isn't correct. No information at the rooms about any other hotel facility. The drinks at the miny bar isn't cold enough.
