We stayed here on a one night stop-over on route to Germany. The hotel reception staff was very welcoming, helpful and friendly - a really charming women. For 10 Euro we got secure parking in the hotel's private courtyard - very convenient when staying in the centre of town. The hotel is linked with a lively Irish Pub. You get a free welcome drink on arrival - a nice gesture. It's great to sit down with a beer after a long drive. We stayed in a family room that was newly decorated, large and fu.
all reviews » Very nice and helpfull staff. Nice, confortable and very clean rooms. We stay in the family room, and the bathroom was very big, clean and beautifull. The breakfeast is a litle bit expensive, but good, serve in a irish pub, very tradicional. It as a small gardénia índice of the hotel. We enjoy very much of the hotel. The girl from the recepcion is very kinde. Good restaurants, very quer and safe city. In Gante centrum, The Graislei restaurant is very good and te owner was excepcional. The extremely friendly and helpful service from the receptionist. She was there to answer our questions and give and advice which I know is her job but she went out of her way to make us feel very welcome. The hotel offered flexibility where others do not. For example you could decide on the morning whether you wanted breakfast and we were allowed to keep our car in the car park after we have checked out. Little things but added up to make our stay in Ghent a very positive one!. Everything was top notch. The reception was amazing and Christina was the friendliest hotel person I've ever met. The hotel is boutique in a historic building which is the best of combos. The breakfast was wonderful and NOT ovepriced compared to other Ghent food. Wonderful atmosphere in the pub also. The room was modern and comfortable especially the bed, with a huge new bath and great shower. Location was perfect to stroll to center despite construction. We loved it. Very friendly lady behind the reception, did everything to make us comfortable. Good atmosphere with Pub in the back. Great parking in private garage, park it, and don't worry about it anymore during your stay. Depending on time of year: keep windows shut to prevent musquitos. Not in the middle of the centre, but not too far either. The staff was really friendly. We arrived a bit early and they offered us a free drink while we waited for our room to be ready. We really enjoyed our stay!. The staff was amazing. Very sweet and accommodating. Great location close to everything. Comfortable beds, nice shower with lots of hot water. The design touches of the hotel are so perfect, and the Irish pub downstairs had amazing food. I want to visit Gent just to stay there again. :). I ws given one of the larger rooms on the first floor and it was lovely - high molded ceilings and tastefule decor. The staff is extremely friendly and the location was great. It was adjacent to an Irish Pub, which was very convenient to grab a late bite and for breakfast. the room we had was really Hermitage looking like. Very friendly lady at the reception (speaks English, Russian and most probably some other language :). Beautiful place located like 5 minutes walking distance from Sint Michelle' cathedral and all the historical sights. I liked the location of the hotel, close enough to the center of the city buy, not too close. The hotel is an old house, restored to today standars. Very comfortable. The rooms were very big. They went out of their way to ensure you had a pleasant experience. The associated pub, Patrick Foleys is full of character and Mary Foleys Kitchen serves superb food. I would recommend this hotel. The hotel is in a good location. It was about a 5 minute walk from the main area of town and in an area with lots of cute restaurants. The hostess, Jenny, was very welcoming and helpful. My room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. A very conveniet hotel to get to the center of Ghent. A fair price for a large room with a shower that actually puts out water. Loved the food at the attached Irish Pub and we ate 3 meals there. Prices were very good for the food served. The place was nice altogether, the facilities, it was really clean and tasteful. The hallway of the hotel is quite echoey. You might hear people banging around and talking when they leave or enter their room. But this wouldn't put me off staying there again. Can't think of anything. There is no air conditioning in the rooms. There is nothing I can think of that I didn't like. Roadworks make accessing the hotel a little difficult at the moment, but the Hotel did email a map and directions before we left home. The lack of an elevator. I was on the third floor and had to lug my bags up. Otherwise it is a beautiful hotel and if you pack lightly the stairs are no problem!. Nothing. Parking is available right next to the hotel and lot is very small so be sure to reserve a spot if driving. The other half of the staff (the receptionist when we checked out). The room was actually way smaller than it was shown in the picture. No complaints. I suppose noise was an issue. I was woken by noise outside and i could hear people speaking in the hallway - however they were American so maybe this is a little unfair on the Hotel. Nothing. No bathtub in our room. Taking breakfast in the attached Irish pub rather spoiled the experience of staying in the quiet and more classy 18th century town house. Nothing. The room was very very small; closet couldn't properly be opened, there was no space for luggage in the room and moving around without bumping against bed/closet/doors was a challenge. If the room would have been cheaper I wouldn't have minded these things but I guess you pay for sleeping in the middle of the city centre. the noise coming from te street all over the night. - The sockets were a little temperamental (and worked even against the minibar...) - The breakfast, while nice, could be included in the price, given the room fee. If the rooms had air con it would have been more comfortable also the roads around the hotel were very difficult to manouver around. Everything ok. Bathroom, perhaps. Nice windows and everything was good enough. Just to compare to the room. Oh, i wish i had shampoo and conditioner seperately.... A bit of a smell in the room-probably because of the canal near by. The hotel doesn't have an elevator and its steep stairs can be a problem for people with reduced mobility. It was expensive. Besides, it didn´t include the breakfast neither parking place, what made it really expensive. That breakfast was paid separately. Otherwise nothing bad to mention. Nothing in particular. Woke up in the night when other guests arrived. Very thin walls in the hotel. Was also disturbed during the night with noise from the pub. Loud music came from somewhere and woke us up. Nothing much really; if we had to pick one thing, the doors were a little tricky to open, maybe it was just us, but we did figure out the trick at the end of the trip. Room a bit small, but perfect for some nights. Lack of facilities other than rooms (attached toIrish pub for meals) and no elevator. Late in the evening some visitors of the Irisch Pub can get and "noisy". A little street noise early mornings with people working and getting ready for work - hardly an issue. No elevator. Nothing i can think of. The heating was a bit much even turned down, but that really is the only fault we could find. Pity about the roadworks outside, made the journey to the hotel on foot a bit messy. A bit dark around the desk, but it is not a big problem.
