Robinsons in the City is a unique urban B&B and offers a delightful small-hotel atmosphere in a Heritage property that was Melbourne's earliest commercial bakery in 1850. Guests enjoy a free continental breakfast daily. Robinsons is a warm, friendly and personal environment. The large, wood-fired, brick ovens are a grand feature of the "Bakehouse" breakfast room. Four of the guest rooms are in the baker's original home re-built in the early 1900's. Whether you are travelling to Melbourne for business or pleasure, don't settle for a standard commercial hotel room. Instead, make yourself at home in the intimate surroundings of Robinsons in the City, where history blends with modern day comforts. There are 6 non-smoking guest rooms, each with a separate private or en suite bathroom. They create for the guests, a sense of home and comfort.

Easily the best place I stayed for the price in my trip around Australia! I could not reccomend it more. - Paul is super helpful in coming up with ideas of things to do and see in Melbourne, really listening to your needs - Location really good for Southern Cross station (and skybus from airport) - beautifully decorated rooms and public areas - private bathroom (separate from room) not at all an issue - really high standard facilities and nice warm fluffy bathrobes to cross the corridor in! - .
all reviews » You were made to feel welcome by Paul before you even arrived: welcome emails, help needed accommodated, bookings made for wine trips etc. It was more like staying in someone's home - warm, cosy, large and lovely. Everything was a surprise in terms of comfort and size plus the guest lounge which was fully stocked with bar, sundries, magazines, dvds etc - just the lovliest b&b. Excellent, central location (10 minute walk to main train/bus station) and the host Paul was friendly and very helpful with both public transport information and also places to see around the city. Clean, comfortable, and easy to get to. Would highly recommend to any couples or solo travellers. Paul was friendly and helpful, changing his plans in order to accommodate our arrival time. He gave us lots of great suggestions for our time in Melbourne. A free public tram stop is just a five minute walk away. Breakfast each morning in the former bakery was a unique treat. Awesome & unique accom. WiFi,breaky,bathroom(shower - A1),parking,butler's pantry all good.Loved the female dog (think her name was Shirley ?)who made a brief appearance. Paul & Tish very welcoming hosts (not too 'in ur face')Gr8 value. Would look 2 stay again. Very friendly and helpfull staff. He did all he could do for us. Great room, large. Paul the owner was an excellent ambassador for Melbourne and his hotel. It really was an enjoyable stay. closeness to Etihad for the concert and only short walk to centre cbd. Paul was great with local knowledge - were to eat, how to get there. Great location, owners and facility!. Host Paul did a great job. Paul was so kind to me, rooms were romantic, and design was so gorgeos. Stay was too short :'(. Minor points: the matress good be better and the WiFi is not strong enough. But this are minor points. Slightly away from citycentre but manageable. Nothing to dislike. The squeeky floor boards when other guests move around during the night. Also the detached bathroom felt odd but nothing can be changed, we coped. creaky floors separate toilet and bathroom wardrobe couldn't take a coat hanging poor ventilation in room. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Wall was so thin that I had to hear thier screaming in the whole night... And bathroom was separated to room, so it was so uncomportable.
