  Rooms were spartan but clean, bed was very comfortable (I like a hard bed), location is right downtown so you don't have to go far to get anything.   Definitely did not think it was as bad as some of the earlier reviews make out. In terms of value for money and location it was the best place we stayed in Rio de Janiero (private double room with bathroom and really good air conditioning in a convienient location).   We booked our room without balcony, but we ended with the room wiht balcony looking at the Sugar Loaf mountain. What a nice surprise! Our room was really clean, spacious and cozy with our own fridge. Breakfast is basic with the choice of savoury or sweet, but is served on the roof terrace and that was very nice.
