For around USD 50 the hotel was excellent.
Location is fine, quite clean. Quiet.
Basically, I liked the helpful staff in the hotel, they let us keep the bags despite a missing baggage room; also helped to get taxis.

Relatively small price to the carnival.
No body spoke English.
Air-conditioning was too loud. Non-english speaking personnel.
Although, many things were undesirable. The rooms are designed for an hour-stay and have surprisingly uncomfortable beds for a long sleep, relatively clean but quite obsolete, mosquitos, no breakfast, staff helpful but no English, screams of local girls heard in the corridor - not so bad, I shall say, no taxi service - you have to go to another street to get it. and btw 'Centro' in Rio actually is not the center of civilization and not the best place to stay.
