The owner was really nice and spoke good English, made us feel right at home. Gave us additional pillows and blankets upon request. He was very knowledgeable and also gave us good recommendations - how to get to a certain place, awesome food to eat etc. Recommended what was, in my own opinion, the best pho in Ho Chi Minh. It was a short 3-5 mins walk away from the guesthouse, called Pho Quynh (hope I got the name correct), right beside a junction. The owner even helped us book a tour to Cu Chi .
all reviews » The guesthouse is conveniently located in a little alley off the main road where most of the open buses stop. At the other end of that alley you will find many restaurants and bars serving both Vietnamese and Western food. The guesthouse is very clean. The floors are tiled so you can hear people walking and talking in the hall and a small level of buzz from the bars comes in at nightime but it didn't stop us from having a good sleep. The rooms are basic and small but clean and comfy. Please mi. It's a perfect guesthouse in the middle of the backpackers area of Ho Chi Min City. That means on walking distance of the Ben Than Market, with its food stalls at night, and on crawling distance of the many bars and restaurants at Bui Vien street. The owner and his family are very friendly and helpful. The wifi is a plus and the shower is warm. You get value for your money. We loved this guest house, the family that runs it is very friendly and relaxed. The room was not too big but clean and new and positive. It's in the center of HCMC, in the backpackers area, so there is a lot of tourists around. Also, there is a lot of restaurants, travel agencies, exchange offices and stores in this neighborhood. Nice city and nice guest house!. This is a family owned and operated guesthouse. They were all friendly and extremely helpful. The location is perfect, right between Phạm Ngũ Lão and Bùi Viện streets where there are plenty of restaurants and nightlife. The guesthouse itself is tucked in an alley so it is quiet at night. Within walking distance of most of the tourist attractions in HCMC. The staff did an amazing job. The owner knows everything worth while in Saigon and will let you know the fair rates for different activities around the city. We were very pleased with the value we received for the price we paid. It was also probably the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in throughout SE Asia. The owners of this hotel were so helpful and were able to guide us as to where to eat,visit, etc. I had an unfortunate incident where my bag was stolen and the owner came with me to the police station and also emailed me the police report a few days later. So so grateful for all their help!. The location was great. Close distance to the busy main st but far enough down an alleyway for peace and quiet through the night. The honer is a very good person, he helped us every time with lots of advices and explaining us with a map every sight interested to see!. There is no lift so if you don't want to carry your bags up, ask for a room on the 1st floor. When we were there there was no breakfast on offer (I think it mentioned breakfast option at a surcharge when at time of booking) but there are a lot of places around to set you up for the day. If you expect luxury, this is the wrong place. Nothing. Nothing. The water pressure was very weak in the bathroom. It was plenty warm, just extremely weak coming out. I imagine this problem will most likely be corrected quickly because management is excellent. Many stairs depending on what floor you are on. Guess it's not a bad thing if you want to workout. Cant think of any thing. Sometimes a little bit noisy. The walls are thin. They colored my trousers I got them for laundry. The room was too small. We could not lock the toilet door since the lock on the door knob was missing. Though it was only for our room. No lift, so lots of stairs... Be prepared to work your butt muscles!. Rooms seemed clean at first but under the bed was a bit dirty. A cockroach was in our shower too but that's just vietnam. The hostel is located in a sketchy alleyway that was a bit intimidating at first when we arrived at night. But during the day it is a small market and little kids running around. I disliked nothing. It's a lot of stairs to climb but I had help with my bags, so ok. The stairs is a bit steep but I believe this is typical of all Vietnamese hostels. No breakfast offered but there are a lot of places nearby to eat. Very hard bed and terrible pillows like mini sandbags. But you get what you pays for and this after all is a budget hotel. A wee bit noisy too. Our air con dripped and blankets weren't great, but these were minor concerns. Liked everything. Some facilities like the aircond and the toilet door ( this may apply to the room I stayed only. Room number 202.) malfunctioned frequently. The shower wasn't great, cold or luke warm at best. Not a major issue when it is 35c everyday. The beds were uncomfortable. They only provided one small thin blanket. Climbing 5 flights of stair, but hey the penthouse is usually on top!. Staff members English was limited. No lift- wasnt an issue for us though. Initially difficult to find. But worth the effort of exploring the alleys of Saigon to find it. the blanket is a little thin. The rooms are not cleaned. No lift And no breakfast (which explains the price). nothing.
