all reviews » I did like they offered breakfast which other hotels in the area didn'T. Breakfast was simple: cereals, breads, juices, boiled eggs. The price was good compared to others in the area. I liked the location, I wouldn't normally stay in "china town" but I enjoyed the experience. One street over is North Beach, which isn't a "beach". More appropriate name should be "little italy"; very good italian restaurants. I would stay here again if the prices stayed the way they were. 1.The bus stop is just 1block from the hotel. 2. I can walk from hotel to Union Square in 20minutes. 3.no homeless people in the area a day (a night I saw just 1-2peeps but they're not look dangerous ) 4.the area was safe even at night . 5.The stuffs are very friendly And helpful. 6.I stay room number 337 And It's very quite and comfortable! 7.right from the hotel is little Italy and left from the hotel is Chinatown! 8.walk just 3blocks to catch a cable car. On the edge of Chinatown and North Beach the sw hotel is nearby to great restaurants, bars, as well as tourist attractions. Close to a bart station if you are planning using it to reach the airport. My husband and I enjoy exploring a city by walking and the location permits this, once you get used to the hills. Took other reviewers advice and chose a room not on the Broadway and we never heard any noise. The rooms were very clean and good size. Continental Breakfast included cereal-both hot and cold, hard boiled eggs, choice of breads, juice, fruit, coffee and tea. Staff very helpful and friendly and accommodating (were able to check in earlier). Within walking distance to many places or to transportation areas. Good restaurants in the area. Felt safe when walking around. Amazing location (walking distance to Union Square, the Piers, Washington Square, Coit Tower) and close to lots of italian/chinese dining places. We were able to hear "EVERYTHING" that was going on in the room next to us. Late at night when guest were walking in hallways their conversations were disturbing. Sounded like people on the floor above us were moving furniture around late at night and early morning. Breakfast was sparse (cake, bread, tea, coffee, fruit) - although that was fine for me, I think some people might expect more. I didn't get to stay longer. They don't include the price of taxes in the reservation quote, which ended up being an extra $20 per night. It would be nice to know that upfront. Not much....the bed was not the most comfortable. This is not a luxury hotel, however, and it was about what I would have expected for the cost. Some folks would probably be put off by the number of strip clubs on Broadway. Didn't bother us, but it's hard to ignore. The street outside was noisy: the hotel has a small square across the street attracting all sorts of "soap boxers": proselytizers with bull horns, and drummers playing till 3:30 am. All double rooms are on the street side of the building, so all are noisy. Walls are a bit thin, too. There are no safes and not at reception either. This isn't a negative comment, just a fact worth nothing. There is no room service, workout center or spa. It's a no-frills hotel that it is exceptionally clean and well located. The mini fridge in the room was not stocked with anything to purchase but that is such a minor complaint that I had to think a long time to come up with it!. No real dislikes, however the rooms are very small & basic BUT you don't come to SF to hang out in your room. It had a bed and washroom insitu which is all you really need. Wish this hotel was more "green", using recyclable containers and even utensils/materials at breakfast would have been nice. Breakfast was VERY basic. No fresh fruit, but a pastry and cup of OJ did the job. Overall, I would definitly stay here again. All good for budget SF. May be a little noisy if you have a room on Broadway side of hotel. 1st room near noisy extractor but we were able to move,fortunately. The walls are a little thin, meaning you can hear loud noises in the room next door. Obviously not something the ownership can change, and was only mildly inconvenient. Walls were a little thin and there was a lot of noise heard from other rooms and people walking above us. I didn't notice it after 10:00 p.m. Would be better to be on the fourth floor. Thin walls - just hope the person in the next room doesn't snore (they did during my stay!) The downside of the excellent location is that there's likely to be street noise during the night. So, bring earplugs and you'll be fine!. Room was small and breakfast was too austere. Parking was full during our visit. Room was on the small side. Since we are not breakfast people, the continental breakfast was fine, though others could find it a bit minimal. The district did not look very safe at night. That was difficult to find parking to drop off bags, the hotel parking was not available as we arrived late, the person on a reception kindly suggested us a couple of other parking options in the district. Room is bit small but perfect for just sleep. In the middle of Chinatown, which is fairly dirty although not at sw Hotel's fault. Breakfast - paper plates, plastic spoons, disposable cups - no fruit and if large tour group staying in hotel, no seats for other guests. Other than this, great hotel - excellent location!. Nothing. Breakfast needs improvement. Not much!. Location is not the best for confrences down town. No wi-fi (as advertised) in our room # 318. I reported the problem repeatedly, but it was not corrected during our stay. The alarm for the fire escape door by our room was not operational. This is a safety hazard. the cost for parking. Walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbours talking. noisy at night and continential breakfast was minimal in the extreme and don't like eating of cardboard plates. The hotel was not in the greatest location. I was kind of leery when I saw the hotel at first. The front of the hotel was not very attractive. I had some requests when I made my reservations and I had to re-request them when I arrived.
