Stanton street was a Great location with lots of reasonably priced eateries nearby. I have stayed in central manhattan in the past and by comparison I think the lower east side had more soul and we felt more at home and that we were locals for the couple of weeks that we stayed there. It was easy to get about with Essex Delancey street subway station nearby. Little, Italy ,Chinatown east and west villages and Soho were all within walking distance. Many buses both cross town and up and downtow.
