Location is excellent - central point for all Manhattan. Great for early morning visits to Empire State Building to beat the queues. Rooms are excellent - everything you could want at an exceptionally high standard. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Red Roof. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The hotel was very central -beside Empire State ,close to Macy,s,lovely quiet area,staff were very friendly and helpful,beds really comfy,room at back of hotel really quiet with great view of Empire State,breakfast substantial and included,lovely bar -would stay again and highly recommend.

I made the reservation just one night before my trip. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is just one block for the Empire state. It is in the heart of Manhatan where you are surrounded by the shopping centers espcially Maces. The subway is also few minutes walking. The hotel is clean and seems to be recently renovated. I really enjoyed it. Central in the Korean street in Manhattan. Close to Impite State, %th avenue, Broadway and times squre gardens, within minutes walking. Fears as to cleanness and nonsmoking disappeared immediayely once we got the rooms. Worth the price, absolutely. The staff members were polite and welcoming. Breakfast was more thwn continental, as promised in the website: fresh Apples and Bananas.The staff were very helpful. I'd arrived early in the morning from Costa Rica and had an important meeting early in the afternoon. They let me check in early without extra charge so that I could shower/iron my suit etc and make my meeting on time. I also had problems with my foreign bank cards and the staff went out of their way to ensure it didn't adversely affect my stay. Central location for everything we wanted to see. We lost a suitcase (left it behind in a cab from the airport) and the staff member helped us report it missing and thankfully it was returned. Check in/out was a short simple procedure and there was always someone around to help with luggage/shopping bags! Beds were very comfortable.On arrival our room was upgraded by a very pleasant receptionist. All the reception staff were extremely helpful. Having stayed in New York before we were expecting a small room. The room was a wonderful size. the size of the hotel rooms were great. I've always heard that the rooms in New york were small but we got a room with two double beds and they were very very comfortable. Room was good size for NYC and room was clean and comfy. The sound isolation was very bad at the hotel. this kills the privacy of couples, families, and even honeymooners ;) but for singles as me it doesn't matter except for being able to sleep while having noisy neighbours as thos i had :) but, People talks about the small size of the breakfast but actually i don't find it very bad problem as they permit you to take your food upstairs to your room..You need a refridgerator in the rooms. The noise. We found the drinks machines on the floors are too noisy especially in the middle of the night. Was dissapointed that the bar closed early, before 1am . breakfast room is too small. Airconditioning a bit noisy. So we turned off after cooling the room. This was my second time staying at the Red Roof, the first time I found the lifts to be quite slow however this time round we were never waiting long (despite 2 lifts catering for 17 floors). The hotel was possibly quieter this time around. Didn't use the breakfast facilites so cannot comment on that.Breakfast time was a little hectic but did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the hotel. Staff at front desk confused if we checked in or not (we did) they said no we didn't. Staff that checked us in came from back room and cleared it up...could have been a problem if he wasn't still there. Doors to rooms seem to slam, but we were up early so not a problem for us. Maybe ear plugs could help for people who want to sleep in.only 2 lifts in the hotel, breakfast room small. Breakfast room was very small.We had a problem with our air conditiioning,I complained twice but no one came to check it out.So we just sleept with the window open.I told them at the front desk when I was checking out but all they did was to say how soory they where.Would not stop me staying there again.We heard lots of noise from ice machine / elevator in the night. Some other guests were very loud when leaving the escalator. On the first day we wanted to take breakfast, however, the breakfast room is so small that it was completely overcrowded. We never had breakfast in the hotel then. Room was a little bit dark / not enough lights. A/C could not be regulated in the room,but temperature was ok. The elevator was really slow. You really don't ant to forget something in your room and have to go back up to get it. Also I wouldn't even bother with the breakfast that is included unless you're after just a coffe and pastry. But who cares. Manhattan is full of great places to get eggs and crispy bacon.Loud toilet. I couldn't put my bar charges on my bill!. The outside of the hotel didn't impress me. Lifts very slow. Breakfast room very small, madness once it got busy, very cheap atmosphere. Our room was to the front of the hotel, very very noisy, i had to ask to be moved.
