When we arrived we were allowed to check in two hours early, and were given the choice of two different rooms - that was very kind and we got a big room as a result. The location is pretty great as long as you don't mind a bit of walking, but that's the same across New York. A bit expensive, but again, that's just New York. I'd stay there again - you don't need much more than a clean and comfortable place to sleep if you're on a busy citybreak.
all reviews » The location! Just two blocks away from Time Square. Unbeatable for this price. Plenty of foodshops around. The staff: the receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful (thanks Joey! ;-) + they can arrange transport to the airport, which was extremely helpful. We really used it as a place to put our head at night so were not looking for much more than a good bed. The room was quiet (209) unlike some of the reviews I read before booking. The room was small particularly the bed but we coped ok. Location location location and price. Considering we were in times square the price was very good . You are about 5 mins away from times square and can easily get access to other parts of the city. Their was large lockers for you to put luggage in if you had a late flight. The concierge staff were extremely helpful. The room we had was a really good size and it was all very clean. The location was amazing. You turned right out of the hotel, walked 100 metres and were in Time Square - brilliant!. We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at this hotel - it is just around the corner from Time Square and Broadway - Central to everything we wanted to do and subway at 42nd is a short walk away to go downtown - very happy. The location of this hotel is amazing, only a 2 minute walk to time square. The price was really reasonable. The room was small but we only used it as a base for 1 night so it was perfect for us. The noise of the air con - you'll have to get used to it or get earplugs. Also, a small fridge in the room would definitely be a plus. No safe in the room or at the front desk. Also took a while for hot water to come on in the shower. Watch out for the hotel tax. Street noise in the room might be an issue for light sleepers - it didn't worry us and we will stay here again if we make it back to NYC in the future. All good here. Hallway rugs were worn down with old tile showing at seams and quilts on elevator walls made it seem like we were in service elevators. Cots behind bar in back lobby was tacky. No tea and coffee making in the room but Cranberry's two doors up had tea and coffee at a very cheap price. No complaints. First hotel in all of our travels that does not have tea/coffee facilities. Also hotel needs to improve window dressings to help cut out traffic noise & light. Definitely not venetian blinds!. Everything was fine. N/A. 1. Some of the concierges need to know nyc better; for example, when asked how to get by subway to take the boats to the Statue of Liberty, if told to go all the way to South Ferry we would have walked half an hour less. 2. One of the cleaner's left the room door not complety closed; we simply pushed it open one day, but fortunately everything was there. Have to be more careful. 3. Ice service would be nice. There was no bulb in the night stand light. It snowed and rained all nite and the window leaked - all over the sill, the floor and whatever was within a few feet of it. Otherwise a reasonable place. Need it get rid of one nightstand to make room for beds. As many other hotels in NY, the room was overpriced. Furniture was outdated and the AC was very noise (forget about sleeping with it on). Not hotels fault, but the street work overnight was a bit too much. Deli next store had really terrible food!. Nothing!. You should take your shower at night because in the morning, water is not so hot. only no minibar and a small micro wave. Not many amenities. Soap, towels and electric outlets were scarce. A lack of a restaurant within the hotel. But the next door there is a restaurant for good breakfast. Very small quibble--no coffee maker in room (but diner next door, so not a problem). One very rude reception staff, on check in. Not a great welcome & terrible first impression of the hotel. Unhelpful, impatient concierge, when booking tours. Would not use again, will book direct with operator for future visits. Works on asphalt and sidewalk of 45th Street caused a lot of noise at night and at dawn. That really bothered. Also I think the rooms could have "fridge". The beds were very hard. It was as if we were sleeping on concrete!. We were not told at checkin that the room next to us was being renovated and was unpleasantly awoken from an afternoon nap by what sounded like someone was bursting through our bathroom wall. Air con was very noisy so the room was hot at night. Walls were paper thin and could hear EVERYTHING from next door. Room was very dark, and free wi fi was unavailable or else very slow. Not the amenities of other hotels, but location and staff more than made up for it. No kettle,. Concierge service was not very helpful. Prices were high, not very helpful with tourist information when looking for a way to save money. the front desk service was not good, not friendly people. It was very hot in the room. Air conditioner was a little noisy. Stairways/hallways/elevators were a bit dark and uninviting. if we had to cancel they would not refund us at all. 1. Beds - too soft, too small. There was no safe in the room. No issues really. the beds are hard as a rock!.
