The staff were fabulous, attentive, helpful, went the extra mile. Parking was easy, friendly, went the extra mile. Everyone called me by name! That matters. Room service food was yummy, elegant. Room was lovely and clean and no "hotel smell" - truly comfortable and quiet inside. I travel once a month and this was the best experience in years! Truly. I will return as soon as I can schedule it.
all reviews » Everything! My room, though not large, was beautifully appointed with a deck and a panoramic view of the beach and ocean. I could see past the Ferris Wheel at the Santa Monica Pier! The room service was outstanding and breakfast at the gourmet restaurant was wonderful. Each staff member I met was warm, friendly and extremely professional. I would definitely return again and again!. Great location, cool establishment, helpful staff, lively atmosphere, not cheap thou and $33 for parking. Been in Santa Monica many times in different hotels, Fairmont it's not cheap, but other hotels are not cheap either and don't offer anything close as far as location and environment. Everything was great, specially Azar and Kyle at the concerige Desk, they are really very helpfull and patient with customers. The staff from front desk, housekeeping, valet parking people, basically, all hotel staff were great. The service was exceptional and the concierge couldnt have been more helpful.They would also offer that extra information which made the stay very good.On every level this hotel was exceptional for the price. It is great, the service is over the top friendly and treats you like a true guest, catering to your every need. It is also dog friendly. The rooms are large and nicely decorated. A short walk to the beach. Always first class service! A big thank you to Amber for helping me create a wonderful birthday experience for my daughter. I am pretty fussy and would complain if it were necessary - but I have no complaints. I cannot wait to return!. My friend stayed in a room down the hall from me close to the elevators. While her room was just as beautiful as mine, with a lovely oceanfront view and balcony, the noise level at night was unacceptable. She was above a big fundraiser party for the Red Cross AND a bar and things did not quiet down until 2 am. When she complained, the staff offered to move her, but by that time it was 11:30 pm and she was too tired to move. She should have been told at check in that her room would be noisy. The noise from the bungalow bar down, I read same comments before staying and I found they were right. The pool is really small and did not bather to try it. I was told they plan to tear it down and rebuild, that is a shame. I believe that will take away from its charm. They should think Europe and just restore what they have. Room service cost was pretty high. Not a great value for the quality of food. $12 for a coffee?. When the hotel is used as a venue, wedding, launch etc - the guest becomes the second priority at this hotel. Staying guests are relegated to some incongruous side entrance and long lines to park and retrieve from the valet. I'd think twice about staying there if I know there is a big event. Night club, very noisy goes on till 2am. Having said this we were moved to a lovely room away from the club facing the pool, with a sea view. Room is quite small,spots on the carpet,pillows were not too comfortable,feather pillows are not the best choice,feathers poking .. Unless you get a suite the room are small. Very pricy. Meals not good value for money. To front desk needs better customer service, and the elevators did not work when we checked inn, the mini bar fridge was not packed properly. Liked everything. Expected a bit more from a $600 room. Not many amenities, small bungalow. Tv didn't even work. Wish wifi is included in hotel fee. Noisy side of hotel even though I was 7 stories up. Loud music from wedding and nightclub below. Bath tub in need of resurface controls in bathroom not working well-- sink only had hot water. Room a little dirty (curtains) and smelling bad. Terrible wifi service for a luxury hotel. Much to slow for basic emails and web surfing. Not a complimentary service unless a Fairmont member. The check in process was frankly a fiasco. Check in is supposed to be at 3pm. On our first check in, after travelling for 18 hours, our room was not ready until c7pm. The second time the room was not ready by 6pm and was only available by c7pm when my husband started complaining forcibly. They did give us free drinks but simply unacceptable for the price. Very expensive restaurant. I thought the reception staff were ignorant and need extra customer service training. It's rude to expect a customer standing in front of you to wait while you keep taking phone calls. Would they have treated Donald Trump like that if he was checking in? They should treat everyone as valued guests if they have been good enough to spend their hard earned money with them. Other staff seemed friendly and helpful. Showerhead didn't work correctly. Too expensive for accommodations and level of service provided. Night club until 2am very noisy, needed ear plugs to sleep. More corporate than holiday. Final bill queried after 500 dollars appeared. Not much of an apology. Would not recommend this hotel. Even cheap motels offer free wifi, when paying 350 usd per night, you expect wifi as a minimum. In these days, payng for wifi in a hotel is like paying for hot water in the shower... The rooms are very small. There are deferent designed rooms with deferent interiors and furniture..so make sure you get the one of the new or renovated rooms.
