We live 60 plus miles from the city and have come in often for weekends and stayed in numerous hotels over the years.
This is by far the very best experience we have ever had and I will never think of booking any other hotel. I only hesitate to give it more kudos for fear of having others book it when I again want a room. Thank you Desmond Tu

I loved the large rooms and bathrooms and the beautifully tasteful renovation of the old Seminary building - very classy. But especially the location near the High Line for walking and near Chelsea Market and all the great restaurants. The staff was super accommodating an genuinely nice and there is a gourmet coffee/tea bar in the lobby with lovely fresh backed goods for the morning.

I am a designer and i loved the whole design of this hotel, everything was exceptional in its design and finish, far beyond the likes of any other hotel. The staff are fabulous, very friendly, professional, cannot do more to help. The pool is great - at times (weekend afternoons when the sun is out) it is quite a "scene" which might annoy someone looking to relax but it is what it is (and at other times it is very relaxing). The restaurants are very good and the rooftop bar/club PHD is great on a Saturday (although be aware that it is run separately from the hotel so after 11 or so, being a hotel guest does not guarantee access). The staff, location and excellent value. The rooms are small but very nicely equipped. 22nd street is more quiet than most, so the street noise was very low for NY. Neighborhood is full of restaurants and shops, subway is a short block away, and there is a Citibike stand right outside the front door.

Loved the convenience of the drive up and valet, although $50 wa a little expensive.

Better than the Belvedere! I visit NY all the time and usually stay in 4 star hotels, sometimes 5. I was a little worried about the Gem, but decided I should try it out. Best decision I made. The place is a gem. It is compulsively clean, beds are new and all white, bathroom was pristine, and the reception staff could not have been more helpful.

The staff were brilliant. On check in we discovered another persons luggage in our room. They promptly removed that and then put us in another room....along with 3 free breakfasts, cocktails, beer and food! Gave us a late check out at no extra cost and the bar staff are very friendly. A great, clean comfortable room and not far from the sights or subway. I would stay again.
