It's an older resort but that is not a problem at all. Fabulous resort facilities, very clean and comfortable room (partial ocean view) with great service. You can't swim in the ocean directly from the hotel but it is such a dramatic location as the resort is positioned directly on lava rock. Views of the ocean are stunning. Watching the manta rays from the restaurant and bar was beautiful. The location is terrific with plenty of beaches and bays to explore. A hire car is a good idea.

Watched the manta rays feeding and ate delicious 'spider shrimp' at Rays on the Bay. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay there again myself. They tried to charge me double what letsbookhotel.com quoted me. I was able to contact letsbookhotel.com with my issue & they took care of me immediately where as the staff at Sheraton just blamed letsbookhotel.com for the problem. I found out that Sheraton neglected to update there site. very outdated. Needs renovation. Room service not available between breakfast and dinner times. Disappointed in the food at the bay restaurant, charged me $20 for a side if rice( they said it was jasmine and it was plain white) and coconut shrimp which reminded me of the frozen I get from the supermarket. ( I had asked for tempura shrimp but they didn't have it.) The place is all cement with ocean views over most if the hotels industrial roof tops. Located 7 miles from the center if Kona. an out of the way place for no good reason. No ocean swimming access.
