I upgraded online from a studio to 1 bedroom, then asked for another upgrade to an oceanview when we checked in. She found one available, offered it for $40 more, and we spent an amazing night in a gorgeous suite, 20 feet from the crashing waves! It was the highlight of our time in Hawaii. We'll book there again next trip!. Second time I have stayed at Kona Bali Kai. Love relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the ocean view,sound of waves and turtles! Noticed others enjoyed the BBQ facilities. With your own transport handy to everything.
all reviews » Friendly staff- well kept property- close to ocean and beaches to enjoy the water-no security problems- very little noise from roads or other guests. Confortable apartanent. Wonderful ocean view, but no beach and a small pool. Staff was terrific, facilities were great, location was outstanding. Nice and confortable studio with excellent location. good location. The property was beach front. The waves crashed just below our window and the surf was deafening. We watched the surfers from our balcony most of the day and night. The unit was very open feeling. Very nice apartment, awesome and complete kitchen and very clean. I recommend. Ocean front. The best in my room was the kitchen, but I think it was because I had a studio, so maybe not every room has one. Nice check in staff. Not much. Condo stayed in this time is for sale so missed the use of condiments available for initial use in last condo. For a short stay of 4 nights, instead of 2 packets of coffee being provided tea bags would have been appreciated together with salt!. only problem I had was having little black ants every where in kitchen. sinks, counters, cupboards. bathroom and sink areas. saw that there were ant traps in place. I just figured the humidity and heat were the cause. not a big problem just annoying. A/c is a problem, works only with a timer and after a while all the studio gets hot. The staff didn't care when I complained. The second bedroom/bath were too small and the bath was not updated like the master bedroom bath. It did not feel clean. No complains. No cleaning even a week stay. The hotel is located at the shores, however, it consists of many different buildings split by a large street, which is quite busy. It is also located outside of Kona, so you have to drive to all the nice places. The worst in my room, was the bed cover, it had stains on it and it ally grossed me out! I just pulled it of the bed. The one underneath looked a bit better...but clean it was not! Hotel is cheaper than others, however, next time, I would rather pay some $ extra. A tired worn out condo, badly advertised as partial ocean view which means viewing the ocean under the building across the road. Yes its closer to town but not worth it. Stayed at much nicer condos whilst at the big island for not much more price wise (houla resort). Glad we were only here for one night. No air conditioning. Ants on kitchen counter. Dirty bathrooms.
