We liked the building, which had much character. Our room was in the attic with a lovely view to the Minster.We could sit in our bed with our morning cuppa and view across.Very clean room and a huge comfortable bed. A nice size bathroom. Breakfast was plenty. Chef made the cooked breakfast look inviting on the plate with the layout and simply finished garnish! Cellar bar was good for a meal, or a cosy night cap after visiting the city. Staff friendly and helpful with a smile! Everything was so .

Simply all you need for a relaxing break away from it all. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very nice and the cellar bar with te beautiful outside area on the forecourt of the hotel was a lovely afternoon treat. The location couldn't be more central!. We absolutely loved the hotel and the staff were fabulous, very friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, would have be 10 across the board, if not for a little repair needed to the bathroom floor, but nothing to worry about. Breakfast was also delicious and served very promptly. I really liked this hotel. The room was very large and had a nice bathtub. The pub below was great and had perfect outdoor seating. Don't miss the park across the road from the hotel, it's beautiful and has some great ruins. We loved the location of the Judges Lodgings central for everything in York. Room on 4th foor quite large plenty of space with good size bathroom - shower only. Breakfast very good - full English and nicely presented. We got back quite late and the manager made us both ham and beef sandwiches with salad as we hadn't eaten which was so good. Excellent location for the City and all its sights. 10 minutes walking from station. Theatre was also located 5 minutes away. Our visit took in Railway museum, city walls, Minster, Treasurer's House and Norvik Centre all within walking range. Nice cellar bar. Room excellent, spacious with great bathroom. Plenty of clean towels!. The location to the train station and to all of the downtown core of York were excellent. The staff was professional, friendly, and accommodating. The parking in York is a bit of a bother - bet to call the hotel for detailed instructions before your stay - once you have those it is easy. The car park the hotel recommends and sells permits for (cheaper!) is about a 5mins walk from the hotel. Nothing. My only complaint was with the noise from the outdoor seating of the bar. We had a room overlooking the seating area in front of the hotel. There were people out there until about midnight. The noise bothered me, but not my husband so if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back of the hotel. Other than that it was great!. No car parking on site - you have to park in Marygate, but you do get a reduced rate. The curtains were in need of replacing as they were ripped. There was no hair dryer included in the bathroom. Dirty carpets in hallway and on stairs. being charged £216 instead of £196 for some reason? i showed the lady on reception my booking confirmation from letsbookhotel.com which stated it was £196 but due to the language barrier (she was foreign, I am from Liverpool) she could not help.....I would appreciate some feedback on this as matter as to why I was charged more than i was told i would be. Didn't have a view, as was on the room description, however this did not spoil the hotel for us, as we were so close to walk to all the sights anyway!. Admittedly will be better without the scaffolding and sheeting so you get a great view too. Occasional street noise from late night revellers, but not too bothersome Can be warm high up and only a small window for air. No permanent receptionist. The only complaint I had was that the room was very warm for sleeping. We could not find a temperature control in our room. The towel rail in the bathroom was on continuously and was very hot. We knew about the building work on the outside of the hotel but not that they had no kitchen,so there was no cooked breakfast although the choice of continental breakfast was very good.Also no bar.I Am sure when all the renovations are compleat it will be lovely. Absolutely nothing - it was great. no complaints. No in house facilities to eat at present time but this is soon to be remedied and we look forward to trying this out. It is in need of some tlc. We had a friendly chat with the manager on our way out of the hotel and he told us of the refurbishing plans which they hope to start in the near future. Keep the tea and coffee in the room topped up, we only had a small selection, not too big an issue. No air conditioning so a fan in room would have been useful especially as we were there in a heat wave. The scaffolding around the hotel didn't look very nice but is necessary. The continental breakfast was excellent but would have preferred something warm on a cold day. However, we were told that it will be an option once the renovations have been completed. Nothing. The length of time we waited for our cooked breakfast. Not a dislike but just to note. We were on the 2nd floor so if you find climbing stairs diffcult then book/ask for a room on the first floor then it's only the spiral staircase to climb. Breakfast service on 2nd morning was chaotic,and painfully slow, but, maybe there was a kitchen crisis? small point - 2 old dirty armchairs in the breakfast serving area. If they are valuable, hide away until they can be recovered. The room was a bit small. The bathroom floor had a badly cracked tile which was covered by a strategically placed towel. At night the room was very stuffy, a fan would have helped. Very few staff were in evidence during the day. The bathroom door frame was cracked. Nothing . Difficult to get to by car (lots of one way streets, and Garmin GPS was no help at all). . .best bet is to head to Marygate Parking lot and bring a small bag with whatever you need. We wound up in Esplanade lot instead, which is more expensive and required extra meter feeding . . .a minor inconvenience although a significant expense.. Nothing!. there was not enough teabags in the room even the milk was sparse and the coffee was aswell we only has 2 yorkshire tea bags that one each per day 2 little milks aswell per day 2 sugers per day no no no we have been all over Briton and never have the hotel room been stocked as low that was the only thing that let it down. We hope that after the refurb that the character of the hotel will not alter and that the price will not rise dramatically!. We had to leave. We were on the top floor and although it was a lovely room it was a little too warm when we were trying to sleep. Also with the window open for air it was a little noisy but it didnt take anything away from our stay in York. There was building work being carried out during our stay which cause minor disruptions but nothing that made the stay unenjoyable.
