We have learned that in England if you have a car you need to check tosee if there is parking at the Hotel. We have recently stayed in Bathand had to pay 8 pounds per day to park the car at the back of the b andB. So, the fact that the hotel has parking and is not far from the busstop made it convenient for getting into the city of Oxford. Our room 223 was warm and the bed very comfortable on a freezing weekend, the receptionists were very helpful and friendly, the position for Oxford was good. Apart from a couple of negative points our stay was enjoyable and we would come back again,.

I have often recommended the Hawkwell to people staying around Oxford, the balance is just right for me---price----service ---clientelle, etc, so its a difficult place to better, just tucked away in Iffley.Breakfast buffet could be improved. A minor issue that didn't detract from an overall experience that far exceeded our expectations. The sink would hardly empty, which you would not expect from a hotel this standard.Could do with better shower curtains so the rooms do not flood. Better heating in the dinning room during the colder season. Breakfast -the toast could have been properly cooked/toasted fully. I booked 2 rooms, and one of the rooms smelt of smoke, but the staff at the hotel sorted this out very quickly and resolved the situation without any fuss. Narrow parking bays. Width of parking spaces - I now have door dents. High water pressure in the shower. Bathrooks looking very tired. Not reaslising that the accommodation would be a slight walk from maid reception and would have worn flatter shoes!. We could hear the people talking at the room next to us.
