I booked the Hotel for a Special family get-together therefore having the bars and in particular the restaurant all under one roof meant that we could have a pre-dinner drink, change go to the restaurant and then have the use of a residents only bar afterwards meant there was something for everyone. In particular the menu and staff in Scalinis was excellent!. Staff friendliness, clean comfortable room, considerate chambermaid who left towels outside room when do not disturb sign was placed, the night porter who is always patient despite the behaviour he has to cope with,and the considerate nature of the reception staff when we overstayed our visit by not realoising check out was an hour earlier on Sundays.
all reviews » Staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The guy who let us in at 1am was very cheerful, considering the time. Breakfast was excellent, although some background music would have been nice as you could hear a pin drop at times. Excellent location and suffice to say, we'll be back!!. Overall friendliness of all staff,very good food and the convenience of late afternoon meals.There was a late bar service for residents.Great location ,would recommend. The hotel is very homely yet efficient, ideally located for local shops and for the centre of Newcastle, plenty of parking at the rear of the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the porters, reception, restaurant, the groundsmen all played their part in a warm and welcoming way. Location:- easy to get to city centre with bars and pubs on the doorstep. couldn't fault our stay and would recommend to friends and family.Two senior male waiters at breakfast could be much friendlier,and approachable. having to leave this was my second visit. Stag party retiring to bed very noisily at 4am! Shower temperature temperamental. managed to get the last parking spot so no complaints from me, just haha!. We had breakfast in the bedroom, which could have been better/warmer. floorboards creaked within the room and in corridor. Normally quite noisy at front (street side) because of all the bars on ground floor.a small thing the shower took ages to warm up !!!!. Our room was over the Osbourne bar so on the night of the Englandfootball match the music was a bit noisey, but it stopped atabout 11 pm.can be a bit noisy on the first floor evening time ( bar ). central heating. on two occasions I asked for the heating to be turned down in the room, but it never was!. no air con on what must have been the hotest weekend ever in england! but there was nothing to dislike about the hotel- it was great!. no heating in the bathroom and it was an exceptionally cold weekend. Need to know that the bars in the hotel are exceedingly busy and stay open until 12.30am. It might not suit all guests to have such noisy bars. there was no entrance to the hotel at the back, from the carpark and the carpark didnt have enough spaces. Not the most central location (20 mins walk to town) but tramstation nearby.
