The hotel staff were really friendly and made us feel at home. THe hotel was brilliant and jsut exactly what we were looking for. The hotel staff were very friendly and the area the hotel is in is excellent. Will be booking this hotel again.I enjoyed my stay at the Caledonian and felt very at ease with the whole experiance. it was just so nice to relax and have a very nice meal.

Internet access from hotel lobby would have been nice.Only that it was a little too far out of the City Centre and Quay Side areas. It wasn't really within walking distance of them so we had to get taxis everywhere, which was costly. If you're in a group it wouldn't matter so much, but when it's just the two of you it becomes expensive. The elevator was small and dark, and not in a great condition.Parking at the back was very limited. Dining room for breakfast wasquite cramped. The hotel staff could have been alot more friendly. Signs of disrepair, carpets, windows etc require attention. Earlier possible checkin would have been nice. Room was nice but a bit jaded and worn.it needs redoing. Although generally clean and tidy the bathroom was slightly dated.location - was disturbed by revellers shouting in the street til 3am and recycling refuse collection woke me at 6am. Whole point of coming up on the sunday night was to get rest before important meeting. Would have been better to stay at home and get up at 4 am!. Hotel advertised dinner served til late but as single female on own didn't like being forced to eat in bar - very uncomfortable. Was disapointed with the restaurant in regards to the price being fairlyexpensive for what you got for your money and limited menu. The room was far too hot with no temprature adjustment and bathroom needed updating decor / fittings wise. no internet access. Some staff did not speak very good English, only one towel in room on arrival, broken remote control and basicially in need of upgrading. Not too keen on the chef's interpretation on how to serve food. e.g. scallops deep fried in a sesame seed crust! Yeuch.Ventilation poor. People in room 202 who were noisy until 0400 am! Woke me up at 0130 hrs and again at 0300 hrs.Disappointed that the single room was so small and only had a shower not a bath. Decor of some bedrooms dated and in need of refurbishment. Unless this is done soon they won't be able to justify the prices.Carpets could do with replacing and noise can be a factor. We were having a drink in a lounge when we were told to move into public bar which then shut-then told to move to hotel bar which we got to going through the lounge area we were moved from only to find several men sitting at a table were at -what was going on?. the heating was broken and on full blast all night - very poor nights sleep - we got up to check out at 8am just to get out of the room - no discount offered!. Yes. Ther hotel was busy, with a lot of stag groups and there was a lot of noise throughout the night. Our room was at the top of the stairs next to the lift and we were disturbed by creaking floors and young men shouting until after 05:00.decor, especially the carpet in the bedroom.

At major roundabout on a69 turn left on a1 heading North. Leave at next junction taking 3rd exit, continue straight ahead through next two roundabouts, climb hill- at the top continue straight ahead through mini roundabout (Safeways is on your right), Take 2nd exit at large roundabout, proceed along main road ignoring exits until road turns along Ring Road then turn right and follow signs for Tynemouth and Jesmond watching out for sharp left-hand turn, at mini roundabout turn left. The Caledonian Hotel is located after the second zebra crossing.

From The South.
On a1 from the south (a69) turn off following signs for Gateshead a6127, (Durham Road) to Tyne Bridge- central motorway a6127. Turn off at Coast/Tynemouth a1058, turn first left at Osborne Road (b1600).

From the North.
Follow a1 signs to the south. Turn left off the a1 at the Gosforth/Wideopen exit. You are then on the b1318 Great North Road and should continue down Gosforth High Street. Take a left at the Blue House roundabout. You are now on Jesmond Dene Road a189. Turn first right into Osborne Road b1600. The Caledonian Hotel is on the left after one mile.
