we got upgraded to a suite due to the comtemperary rooms being overbooked. the room was beautiful, the size of an apartment and the staff couldnt have been more apologetic. it was comfy, clean, warm, and road noise was minimal considering how busy it was. i love this hotel! ive stayed in the palace in a standard room before, and it was excellent! i would not let bad reviews put you off. I was astounded when I first entered the Reception. It was a magnificent and beautiful Reception. The Receptionist was lovely and attended to every need. Then we got to the room and it surpassed all expectations. I've stayed in hotels in Manchester for 20 odd years now and this hotel is the best.

Very comfortable room and no noise from busy Manchester night life!. The whole experience was very good, the food was good and the staff were both efficiant and friendly, also the location of the hotel was excellent, we would definately book there again.Beautiful stylish hotel with massive rooms. We were shown a standard twin room and I would definitely advise anyone staying here to choose the contemporary rooms, which have benefitted from a great makeover.More discount could have been given for car park. Weekday breakfast times ended too early i.e. 10.00am. I wish if there are more staff at the reception. no air conditioning in bedrooms unable to open windows as screwed down. A little noisy. A very large and loud "Anne Summers" conference with disco was taking place in the bar area adjacent to open-plan breakfast restaurant at 10am.You need peace and quiet at breakfast to ease you into the day, not a full-on disco. otherwise a very nice hotel. It was a large building with very high ceilings and thus was a bit chilly in both public areas and the bedroom. The service in the restaurant and bar wasn't great.
