We were very happy with our three night stay at Lancaster Gate Hotel and highly recommend it. The location is superb on a quiet street only a block from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. We had learned that there is variation in room sizes, but we were very happy with our spacious room and bath. People have commented on the expensive breakfast, but we were pleased to learn that the hotel offers three choices in the morning: a continental, a "light", and the full English breakfast. We enjoye.

We saw 28 heat and thought it was ON so we were cold for a day. First time in 40 years of ANY hotel we we charged to store our luggage for a few hours--and also charged £10 an hours overstay when we requested late stay provided hotel not full. Our plane took off 6pm. Not a way to keep customers. On principle I would prefer to pay £25 more at the Radisson 4 stars nearby. easy to get around, walk through Hyde Park and come out on Kensington High Street, near tube. Great whole foods market there on the high street. Staff very proper and formal but friendly. Well done up interiors, rooms birhgt cheery yelow with navy blue trims, nice detail. Had a samll fridge to keep our snacks in. Bath excellent, all marble tile, etc. lots of fluffy towels, immediate response for housekeeping, etc. Absolutely a perfect hotel, quiet, refined but easy to get to. The room lighting was very cosy and comforting - created a lovely atmosphere. The room was clean and well maintained. The shower/bath was good with nice toiletries and plenty of towels. Good tea/coffee making facilities. Very comfortable beds. My mum had the double bed and I had the single, which was ideal. Excellent temperature regulating system and we could make the room as warm/cool as we liked. Quiet location. We were very pleased with our choice and will book again!. The location of this hotel is great. There are several tube stops within a 5 minute walk and Paddington Station is only about a 10 minute walk away. The hotel is located on a quiet street, but there are numerous shops, restaurants, and pubs just around the corner. Hyde Park and Kennsington Gardens are one street away. We felt like we were native city dwellers. We enjoyed it very much and would definitely stay there again. The full buffet breakfast was wonderful. The location is very good with easy access to underground & buses and Kensington Gardens. In spite of the proximity to good transport it was quite quiet even though our room was on the street. The rooms are compact but have reasonable storage and we were able to put all our clothes for a 10 day trip away on arrival. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The Lancaster Gate was ideally positioned a short walk from Queensway tube station. The staff were polite and helpful - for a nominal fee (£1) we were able to leave our luggage after we had checked out so that we could do more sightseeing. The breakfast was tasty, plentiful and between reasonable hours (not too early). Our room had everything you could wish for. Excellent value for money. We'll be back. My room was very clean and comfortable but was close to the outside air conditioning units which were very noisy, as a result I didn't get much sleep the first night. In the morning I asked to be moved to another room for the rest of my stay, the staff were very helpful and accommodating and put me in a much quieter part of the hotel. Staff ten out of ten. We visit London on a regular basis and for a three star hotel Lancaster Gate comes up tops. The rooms, the facilities, the staff and the breakfast was all and more one could ask for. Room had been recently refurbished and despite being in the basement it was bright, well lit and cheery. There was a bathtub and low pillows were available for side sleepers. Central line is closest to hotel at Queensway or Lancaster Gate, but Circle and District lines run to nearby Bayswater station, just a couple of blocks further up Queensway. The reviews that claim this is a quiet hotel were right- I can't recall a more peaceful room. Staff were nice- friendly and efficient- I witnessed one of them arguing vociferously on the phone for one couple. A 10 minute walk from Paddington but a world apart. I'd stay there again. The location was perfect and the staff were wonderful...everything about the hotel was great (almost). (see what I didn't like). We used thr On/Off Bus and it was only two blocks away.Being an American I would politely ask for ice every night and the bartender was very accommodating. A little refrigerator would have been nice. Would stay here again. This hotel is located conveniently near to Hyde park and is just a short walk from either the queensway or lancastergate underground stations. Great location with easy access to central london and within walking distance of oxford street. We will be back. Our room on the first night was noisy from the air conditioning and was a bit small.We ere changed to a bigger nicer room for the rest of our stay and were very comfortable,All staff were very helpful,food and breakfasts excellent. Well situated,we were going to the Albert Hall and were able to walk there in the early evening.Also convenient for the underground which we used during our short time in London.Hotel was well maintained and staff were helpful. I am a loyal customer, I prefer Lancaster Gate to other accommodation options based on all the factors - location, service, rooms etc. like it and like to get back here. We liked everything about the hotel and were very happy we had selected it. Everything was lovely thank you. We just wish that the renovations being done to the lobby had been completed, otherwise we had no complaints. The pillows - too flat. The fact I had to ask to be moved to another room from a room that was totally unacceptable, it should not be used as a guest room. The bar was a bit pricey and shut too early. Possibly a trifle out of town but worth it for the position, it's quiet location, a stones throw from Hyde Park. 12.5 pounds is too much for breakfast, so we didn't eat here. 5 pounds/day for internet is also too much. Wireless should be free at this price point. But even when we tried to log on to pay for the service, we couldn't get a signal. Perhaps because the room was in basement. Unfortunately it was also directly across from a conference room. Although there was no conference, staff were in and out of room a lot during early hours. Didn't feel very private. 1) The rooms doors not satisfactory soundproof. 2) Having stayed at 237 hotels worldwide, this is the first one charging for storing luggage until late departure. Not about money, just not customer friendly. London hotel room prices, for the facilities provided. Paying for internet seems somewhat behind the times. No fridge in room is inconvenient. The shower was just a drip. Pillows a bit hard. Food in restaurant was very basic and the piece of fish I had was clearly out of a packet. You have to pay for WIFI wherever in the hotel, not right in this day and age when even B and B's have it free!. Not much. Room was a little small, but this is London, what do you expect. i paid 10 pounds for 1 hour of internet time. Down the street I found an internet cafe that charged 1.5 pounds. I complained to the staff and they understood 100% but said they had a contract with a company...anyway, unless you have money to throw away, go to the internet cafe up bayswater towards notting hill gate. It's a 5 minute walk. nothing to dislike about the hotel itself. Very little really. Certainly nothing to put me off staying there again...and we fully intend doing just that. Breakfast at 12 pounds is too expensive, given that you have a small buffet of beans, eggs, bacon, bread and some jam and cereals, coffee and tea... way too expensive for such a small choice. Also I don't know why most hotels still charge for wifi !! 5 pounds per 25 hours... I hope that changes some day. You can hear noise i.e footsteps from other rooms although expected from an older building. No fridge and windows could do with a wash. the beds were hard, thats the only downside. We ensured we were down early for breakfast as we were told by staff that it was very busy between 8 and 10am.Apparently only 80 seating places for a hotel with 188 rooms. Can't think of a thing. Air Conditioning worked great but had a musty smell. Additionally the toilets didn't flush well. A few other guests complained but we just kept pushing the handle until it worked. Not big problems at all. a proper sized bath towel, one-size does not fit all! hot chocolate sachet with tea and coffee. Not been able to open windows. The restaurant menu was very limited and poor choice of food. The view from our bedroom windows was poor as the windows are set back too far. Not much room to move in the bath tub as not everyone likes to use the shower. Size of bedroom. Liked it all. Nothing, we loved our visit. - had to look beyond renovations - color of yellow in lobby and room could really be improved - quiet ugly, another tone should be used. We found the corridors and our room hot. The bath tubes in our rooms were very high with not safety acces for elder people. The elevator is not available for some rooms, after main elevator you need to take a few stairs with your luggage. I like boiled or fried eggs not scrambled!. you need to use stairs to reach your room within the same floor. this is not convenient specially when you have luggage. There is nothing I did'nt like. We only stayed one night!!. Nothing. no option for free wifi even in the public area(lobby)or possibility for courtesy 1 hour free use of wifi. well, the single room is definitely very small.
