The staff were very helpful and friendly.The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was great with a good selection. The location of the hotel is quite far from the city center but there is a bus leaving every 5-10 mins from just around the corner. It takes about 20 mins and drops you right on Pinces Street. The location of the hotel also means you are away from the city center noise. All the staff were particularly friendly "especially" the restaurant staff . We used to own public houses and a small hotel so therefore we have high expectations your hotel met all of our own personal standards. We would certainly stay with you again.The hotel was more like a big happy family home rather than a typical large group . Our compliments to all of you.
all reviews » great hotel. great facilities. staff all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. easy to find and just far enough out of town to not be expensive getting a taxi in, giving superb views of a truly stunning city. wouldn't hestitate to use the hotel again if ever going back to Edingburgh. Room was clean and in great condition, comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Do not disturb sign meant no knocks on the doors from anyone, which isnt always the case. Food service 24h was also good.We have stayed before and liked the position of the Hotel in the country yet close enough to city. This time we brought our Granddaughter who thought it was wonderful ecpecially having the pool. The staff were friendly and vey helpful to my friend and i as we were through to see a gig. They told us the best way to get to concert and what pubs and clubs were good to go to as well.Excellent value for money. I couldn't have expected more for such a deal. The access to free gym facilities ( sauna, steam bath etc.) is an absolute bonus !. Friendly staff, standards of cleanliness were faultless, excellent leisure facilites, generally good atmosphere, dinner delicious, good room service.The staff were very friendly and made us feel comfortable. They had read our reservation and prepared our room with a cot for our 5 week old baby. I was there for the first time to attend the East Centre Dinner Dance ofthe Caravan Club and from entering through the door we were made reallywelcome. Everything wasmthere to make us feel at home. Thank-you. Very loud footsteps from personel walking back and forth directly above the room woke us up every morning. That was annoying but it's the only complaint we have, we were probably just unlucky with the room placement. As far as we are concerned anyone who complained do so because they like complaining.They took a deposit of my debit card of £150 even though the room as only £66 and it took 3 days to go back into my account. Breakfast was not quite to the standard we had expected - there was even quite a bit of eggshell in the fried eggs! Just a minor gripe in what was otherwise a great hotel though.We had to go down a small flight of stairs to get to our room, which wasn't practical with our pram. 1st room not up to standard but managed to get moved! Location out of Centre but excellent local bus service available which ran through the night also!. Only drawback was the distance from the City, but very easy access to the 26 bus which come evey few minutes. A little far from the city centre and was hard to find. Food was expensive in the hotel restaurant.i did not like that the constant noise off the pigeons right outside my bedroom window, very annoying. Perhaps the windows could be double glazed.it would have been nice if the breakfast vuffet could have been seperated - vegetarian to one side and meat to the other. Perfect. Dinner not available untill 6pm, travelling with young children meant that we had to eat out. The temperature in my room and the corridors was a bit too warm for me. two single bed swhen we requested a double. It said it was within walking distance to city centre - it wasnt. Also aroute planner would have been good - we were in edinburgh in good timebut it then took a further 2 hours to find hotel.Taxi fare a little pricey to get into city centre. slighty to far from city centre. I do not like paying twice for one night! I paid on arrival and on my return from a trip abroad found they had taken another payment. It is in the process of being sorted----BUT!. It was a little too out of the way from the city centre. The very loud disco on Friday night, followed by fire alarm at 1.00 A.M. Breakfast could be improved. Seemed to be rather short staffed.A bit far out from the city. We were told on check-in that breakfast was included only to find out the next a.m. that it was not.the distance from the town although there is a very accessable bus service. however we were not informed of this bus (the no.26) on the website when booked as it would have been very usefull. we arrived by train and asked at the station where the hotel was and how we could get there. it cost us £10 in a taxi. if we had been told on the site we would have known to get the no.26 bus and saved £8. the hairdryer was poor!! make sure you take your own!. when we arrived we booked an early morning call for the next day for 8.30 am, we got it at 7.30 am, after our 3 day stay we ordered an early morning call for 5.30am , we did not get it at all, i told the desk staff that if i had a flight to catch i wouldnt be happy at all about missing it. by luck we woke up our selves at 6.00am.
