The hotel is well located in Sultanahmet area and it's about 5 minutes walking to the blue mosque. The hotel is located in a quite area and there are several mini-market and restaurants within reach. We have booked the superior double room. Its size was good and it had windows on all of it three sides with lots of sun. The furniture quality was good and the bed was comfortable. The room and the hotel was unique in its style. Breakfast was good and mainly cold cut dishes with 3 selections of hot.
all reviews » Mr. Salih and the rest of the gang at Katelya were excellent. When we first arrived, he took the time to sit down with us and talk about all the different things to do in Istanbul. He didn't stop at the popular tourist places, and recommended some less-visited places as well. He wasn't trying to sell us anything or steer us in any direction - just make sure we had a good time, and make sure we weren't ripped off by taxi drivers or shop vendors. The hotel itself was very nice: very clean, comfor. Grate place if you visit Istambul for excursions and shopping! Main history places are 5 min walk. Shopping and Grand bazaar too, other places - 40 min away by transport (usd12 by taxi - 15 min). Don't eat fish at Galata bridge - it's for tourists, cross the bridge and take left to the restaurants at the beach - they are cheap and tasty. Try Raka - local vodka! The stuff of the hotel is super, they take care of us. Don't forget to ask about Turkish coffee during breakfast - it's included, same . A staff are very friendly and helpful. I was offered to do a check-in for a few hours earlier and breakfast was offered too - it's great. Breakfast is very tasty. Hotelier show on a map all the greatest places in the city and their working hours without any question from me. If you have a questions - be sure, you will receive an answer. Hotel is only two minutes walking from the mainest points of interest. Room was small, but comfortable and with sea view. Good Wi-Fi for free. Water, tea, coffe. The location is abolute perfect to reach the Sultanahmet sqaure in 5 mins by walk and at the same time, the hotel is located at a quite residential part where one can avoid the hustle and bustle of the city center. The staffs are very friendly, helpful and provides very good advice. I have already booked it in May for my second travel to Istanbul. I stayed at the superior room which was too big for a solo traveller like me but I felt it very luxurious and highly comfortable. Breakfast was quite. The hotel is in a very good location in easy walking distance to the Blue Mosque and other significant attractions as well as restaurants, cafes and bars. . The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The room was comfortable and also the bed. The breakfast was great with lots of choices including fresh orange juice and espresso coffee, and eggs to order, as well as delcious Turkish yoghurt and honeycomb. The price may be a little high but the hotel did provide very good qualit. A nice, very clean and cosy Hotel in a breathtaking area. From the roof you overlook Maramara Sea. Rooms are small, but enough for a City trip. The bed was very good. At night never loud despite the weekend. Breakfast tasty no wishes left. All staff friendly and helpful. Get the tickets for Hagia Sophia and Topkapi at the desk and you will not have to queue. I was picked up from the airport by the hotel taxi and directly driven to the hotel as a complimentary service which was great! I do recom. This hotel is excellent. The host & manager was extremely helpful & made us feel very welcome. This is a small boutique hotel & is only 12 months old. The hotel & rooms a luxuriosly decorated & would equal any 5 star hotel - but is very affordable. The breakfast room seems to be an historic site in its on right. Location is good for all the usual tourist places, e.g., Blue Mosque. Also found a couple of great restaurants within spitting distance (Cheers Soul Kitchen, Seatanbul). The owner is really helpful for sightseeing tips and route planning. Remember to check out which days places are shut. The hotel pickup from the airport was also good. Everything was most pleasant. Location was perfect, near all the places we wanted to explore and more. The entire staff was extremely helpful, most willing to go out of their way to make us feel at home. Breakfasts were delicious! Room was comfortable, though we could have used a little bit more room. Perhaps a lesson to travel a little lighter next time. The WC was clean, everything worked well. Built in Sept 2012, immaculately clean, cool design, friendly helpful staff, great rooftop terrace with awesome views of the sea. Really good breakfast. And the location is perfect - 5 minute walk to the sites. Rooms are eurosmall (I am American) but fine. This defines "boutique" hotel. I paid $139/night. Grab this before it is "found". Oh, and free airport transport if you stay more than 3 nights. My sister and I stayed here for a few days at the beginning of May. The first day, we decided to walk around to get our bearings and not five minutes out of the door found ourselves stumbling upon the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. The location could not have been more perfect, the accommodations were spotlessly ideal, and the breakfast wasn't too shabby, either!. While the rooms were exceptionally clean, I had trouble sleeping there. I'm not sure if it was the bed or anything else. So I can't really say this is a criticism of the hotel. We stayed from Feb1-4, 2013, the price for that period of the year was a little bit high. But we liked the location and facilities. And we were not upset!. Only one thing - there's no a bathrobe in the room. Absolutely nothing. Nothing, really!. There is a bit of a steep 3 block climb to the main square. Older or disabled people may have a problem with this. No swimming pool. The room 303 had a poor sound isolation - in the morning you could clearly hear your people taking shower in the other rooms. Loved everything, nothing I didn't like. I only wish I'd stayed longer. Not much except that rooms are bit small but afterall, you're only there to sleep. A few quirks in the room, but they are in "just started" mode, so I am sure will be ironed out. But overal, hard to find fault. nothing. * Breakfast is too late (starts at 7:30am and hot food only after 8am) On last day, we didn't get chance to catch up the breakfast * Location is hard to find (my cellphone has data roaming so GPS works) Not a big issue though. The design of the hotel might "surprise" you, it's a bit over the top. While driving to hotel, bit difficult with the gps to locate. On the first floor the rooms r located very close to each other in a tiny corridor, so u can easily hear the noise of ur neighbours as they arrive to their rooms. Nothing. - Nothing. nothing. - Not the most comfortable bed (but we found this at every hotel in Turkey). Room was small and not well laid out. nothing. Once Katelya has its license to serve food and drinks upstairs on the terrace this hotel will be even better. The room which we stayed at has a perfect view, but a bit tight. Limited TV channels with a small screen. *small shower. There was nothing we didn't like. The price seems to be fare. Everything was perfect. The hotel wold benefit it the roof terrace could be used for evening drinks or for having breakfas. A chair is missing in the room.
