Loved the Chang Thai House. Staff were great not in you face. Booked tours though them price was good. Location seemed out of the way at first but after walking around was close to everything. Never took a cab anywhere but to the airport. Would and will stay here in the future. No problem doing a late check out . Breakfast was basic. Who doesn't like eggs, ham and toast. Had Asian breakfast too.Have read different bad reviews on this place but for the price and service I received couldn't be ha.
all reviews » Excellent hotel. Big room and bathroom, all thai-style furnished. Breakfast is included and the buffet is very good. Nice pool if you want to relax, and there is also a thai massage centre just in front of the hotel.Good position, only 5min walking from the old centre, and very quiet at night. Staff is friendly, they arranged for us a private transfer to the airport at the same price of taxis, and we could have breakfast even if it was very early and the buffet was still not open for guests. I booked this hotel only for six nights. After that I moved out to my own place which I first thought would be ok but I only spent one night there lost a lot of money but I am back at this hotel probly for the next rwo weeks. The price of room includes a full and amazing breakfast! Full English, cerials, cold meats, salads, Thai breakfast, fruits, tea coffee and more. What more can any one ask for. Ayub from UK. Although the location is outside the city center it is still within a short walking distance and also the night bazaar is really close-by (10 min. walk). Facilities were great (a.o. a small pool to freshen up after a long day sightseeing or trekking in the neighborhood), Staff were really friendly and helpful in arranging all kinds of things (daytrips, transportation to next stop on the journey). Room and service is very nice, it's our first time to be Chiang mai, and the hotel staff give us much support and information. It's not located to old city area, but only need about ten minutes to be there or night market by walking. You can choose one day safari programs in the hotel and pay 1000-3000 baht in accordance with different visiting items packages. Lets cut to the chase, the breakfast was worth the daily rate alone. Great selection of fresh fruits, salad, as well as most things loved by westerners to kick the day off. Not forgetting the chef waiting to knock out omelettes to order. This place is immaculate with very smart, friendly staff. The rooms are bright, airy, tastefully equipped and decorated. We had a comfortable and spacious deluxe room at Chang Thai House and were really happy with it. The pick up as well as the drop off from and to the airport worked perfectly. The Mini-Bar is for free and gets filled up daily. The breakfast was nice, nothing special but something for everybody. The staff at the reception is really nice and helpful. I've stayed for three nights.. The location was just perfect for me as I prefer to have a quiet sleep.. It was less that 10 minutes walk from the old city which was better to escape the noises... The restaurant that belongs to the hotel closes really early (7:30 pm) and it's quite a walk until you get to other restaurants. The food at the hotel restaurant wasn't really good and fruit shakes and coffee are way better when you get them at one of the market stalls. Plus, the restaurant staff seemed really annoyed, whenever someone came for lunch or dinner. The only thing I didn't like was forcing myself to leave as I wanted to stay more. The breakfast was included but would have rather paid for something better. As in, limited options and not very tasty. - Breakfast wasn't very appetising. Strange windows facing into the hall. Air conditioning too cold and noisy. Nothing. Loved it and encourage them to continue what they are currently doing. Fabulous!. The access to the hotel is a bit back alley which is not pleasant at night when walking. There was no hot water at all in the room which was not what was advertised and after a long day was sorely missed!. only two things. not enough hanging space. not a proper door on the toilet. beware of the massage accross the road, very expensive compared to all others and not terribly professional. found much better in the town. One day we ordered a dish with masaman curry, but this was very poor. I had to leave after only three days to continue on my journey. nothing, all was great. When I get there , all cars and motorbikes rent agencies link with the hotel were all full . the receptionist didnt want to call for me other agencies that were not link with the hotel. There is no coffee maker in the room. Walking down the dark alley to get there at night was a bit daunting. The demolition site two doors up the street. The breakfast spread was limited. However, they make up for it with some changes on certain days. The breakfast was really poor. Poor English knowledge but we found the way to comunicate and understand. The wash bassin in the showerroom was congested. rooms on ground floor not the best, if given ask for an upgrade, it's worth the money. staff could of been more helpful, made all my own arrangements for touring around. Nothing!. The staff was really complicated to change the reservation. I booked through this page and I wanted to change my checking out date and the guy wouldn't help us... He said that I had to deal with letsbookhotel.com, I found it ridiculous because I was already there and he could have done something. Anyways, I called letsbookhotel.com twice and they were really helpful! A plus for letsbookhotel.com, Finally the guy did whatever I wanted him to do with my reservation after letsbookhotel.com called . Rooms need fans and insect screens so you don't have to use aircon, just like in the old days. Little bit of a trek into the main walking streets and traffic makes it a bit hard to get to as a pedestrian. Staff wanted us to pay for a pillowcase that they said we had stained with blue dye. I think the blue silk cushion on the bed transferred it's dye to the pillowcase, not our fault or problem. Quite unpleasant to deal with at check out. The air-conditioning unit is right next to the bed, so it takes some figuring to keep the room cool without turning the bed into an iceberg. The room has windows onto the hallway (with curtains in front of them, no worries). This not only seems unnecessary but is a source of uncomfortable light at night as well.
