I really enjoyed my stay at Edelweiss hotel. Firstly is situated in the delightful town of Wengen - in the heart of the Jungfrau. The town has spectacular views of the mountains, which was quite breathtaking as I made the short walk from the train station to the hotel. I received a very warm welcome from the staff, and was shown to my room which had everything I needed. I was travelling solo at the time, and the room contained a comfortable single bed, a Study desk and a cute little bathroo.
all reviews » Daniel, the hotel manager was simply the most hospitable person ever! My wife and I unfortunately did not pack any winter clothes and we happenned to arrive during their first snow in over 30 years. Daniel let us borrow some of us winter clothes for our stay which saved us and allowed us to enjoy all that this beautiful area had to offer. He spent some time when we first arrived, giving us a tour of the property and explaining how all of the trains/aerial cable cars worked. It really felt like . The staff of this hotel were incredible. Daniel provide us excellent advice on hikes each morning at breakfast. Wengen is such a wonderful place to have your "base" while exploring the area. The rooms were small, but functional and very clean. We had a shared deck overlooking the Jungfrau, which was wonderful. The only complaint we would have would be the postage stamp size of the bathroom, but the shower had nice pressure and lots of hot water. The warm welcome of the staff makes up for . Staff were welcoming and helpful, and gave good recommendations for me to explore the Jungfrau area by hiking by myself. Both breakfast and dinner were good too. They have customized menu for dinner every night, and the chef was so kind to prepare other main dish for me one night when I couldn't eat the fish in the daily menu. View from the hotel was great with clean and comfortable room. And it was a true blessing to have met Daniel there, get to know his stories with the hotel, and be greeted. This place is AMAZING! The people who run it are incredibly helpful. The place is tucked away on this mountain side and is built out of wood like a cabin. The rooms are quite big and basic. The highlight was the dinner, you have the option of dining in and would strongly recommend it. They serve four courses of traditional swiss food which is different and so so tasty and fresh. One of our favourite meals of our whole trip. The owner had been to Australia and loved meeting us! A friendly enviro. Overall, our stay at the Edelweiss was a fantastic way to start our first trip to Switzerland. We stayed in a warm, comfortable, clean room with a balcony and view of the mountains. The host Daniel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The four course gormet meals offered to the guests at an incredibly low price kept us dining at the Edelweiss every night that we could. Our stay in Wengen was the best part of our trip. We wish we had stayed longer and highly recommend the Edelweiss Hote. Daniel and his team run a very efficient hotel. They are all very helpful from checking in,to the rooms which are very clean and we had a great view from our balcony of the Jungfrau. The chef does a great job the food was fabulous. For 25 francs you get a four course meal. We ate there every night. It's a wonderful spot and a great value hotel. We look forward to returning one day. The room is very clean and with a nice mountain view. It has a nice garden as well. The location is good - only 5-10 min walk from the train station. It is also very easy to go to the jungfrau from the hotel. The staffs are very friendly and nice. The breakfast is very good. Daniel Eisenegger is probably the finest host my wife and I have encountered in many years of travel. He stopped by at every meal to discuss our plans and suggest where to go each day depending on the weather. The evening meals were exceptionally good and the room comfortable. Daniel and Susanne were amazing and very helpful. Not only was the hotel in a great location with wonderful views but the rooms were great as well. The diner service was very tasty and all 4 courses went together perfectly. I congratulate Daniel and Susanne to successfully manage such a wonderful guesthouse (and I am deliberately not using the term 'hotel'). Daniel made it certain that our stay in Wengen is delightful beyond the boundaries of his facilities, which meant us a lot. If you are travelling to Wengen, stay at Edelweiss. Period. The staff is fantastic, so warm so nice, I love them! And the breakfast is so wonderful, there is also a kind staff helping you during breakfast. You can also book supper in this hotel. By the way, the sightseeing for this hotel is wonderful, you can see three snow mountains at the balcony, so romantic. This was classic good news / bad news. The room we had (#208 & I assume #108 & #308) was one of the least expensive if not the absolute least expensive one in the entire village of Wengen with incredible views of Jungfrau from our balcony. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. We loved our stay at the Hotel Edelweiss. The staff are helpful with lots of information so you can explore the nearby mountains. If you want to enjoy the best views, go further down from the hotel towards the valley and you will see clear views of the lauterbrunnen valley... It was nice stay, cost and comfortable room the hotel stands in middle of the to jungfrau. So save you 1 hour if you have plan for jungfrau. Breakfast is a bit simple but taste nice！. I like Wengen! The location is not so wonderful if you have too much luggage, though it is near the Wengen station. The bad news was that the room measured 9 feet by 16 feet and that included the bathroom. (According to the emergency evacuation map - all other rooms in the hotel are much bigger excluding 108, 208 & 308). The beds were bunk beds. There was only one electrical outlet in the entire room & we had to move the armoire out from the wall to access it. Bottom line is if you want to really save money in Wengen ask for one of these 3 rooms BUT be prepared to have little room. It's a slightly hilly trek from the train station - not usually a problem - only so if you have elderly or very young visitors. Nothing. Not a thing. Bathrooms abit small, but then it is a chalet. kitchen should be open for guests. 5 mins walk from station to hotel. The way is up and down. Traveller with big luggage should plan in advance. the bathroom is a little too small. The beds being two singles put together. The architecture and design can be a tad old-fashioned but fine for us!. Steep walk to the hotel from train station. Most shops and restaurants are closed on Sunday and Monday in the area. Difficult to find good place to eat. Little Hard to find at first but not far train. Very little. Breakfast menu simple and no variation. Dinner menu very good value though a little repetitive. My stay was too short!!!. Nothing!. Local information centre at train station gave wrong directions to get to the hotel. nothing. Nothing to not like.. Internet was somewhat unreliable but o k. no complaints. Situated on downside of the railway line,but taxi subsidised if you ask!. The 15 euro taxi ride from the hotel to train station which is almost required due to the slopes.
