Location on river. The continuous river noise, complained about by some other reviewers, was definitely noticeable in my room, but to me it was "white noise" very similar to an air conditioner, and I didn't mind it. In fact, it probably helped to drown out other, more irregular noises that I would have been bothered by. Location and uniqueness of design of rooms. Friendliness of staff.Relaxd atmosphere.

Take time out on the Aare peninsula. In a central location away from the hustle and bustle of traffic, the hotel is on a small peninsula where only the gentle flowing of the River Aare can be heard.

Just a short distance from Thun’s picturesque old town and the town centre, rest a while in one of our well-equipped modern rooms and enjoy the cuisine in the restaurants. The hotel has 700 metres squared of seminar rooms on 3 floors, equipped with modern and contemporary infrastructure. The can hold up to 350 people.

The gateway to the Bernese Oberland, Thun is easily reached by public transport. With rail connections from all corners of Switzerland, the Hotel Freienhof is 5-10 minutes on foot from the railway station, whilst Thun is only 20 minutes from Bern by car.

The garage has parking for up to 60 cars.
