The Alpenblick hotel is situated about 600 metres from the centre of Grindelwald, right at the ski slope and a bus stop, and offers nice rooms and tasty food. The location of this hotel is absolutely astounding. When we arrived at the hotel we were really pleased. The hotel is about half kilometre outside wonderful but slightly busy Grindelwald town. This hotel is located in a quite location with wonderful mountain and glacier backdrop which we loved. Every morning we were able to see the wonderful mountain valley through our bedroom window. They also have lovely patio area for sitting outside for meal and drinks. The view from the patio is like pic.
all reviews » As one can tell from my many reviews, I travel a lot...especially in Europe. I can honestly say that I have never encountered better value for my money or more gracious, informative and fun hosts than the Hotel Alpenblick. The hotel has private rooms available, but I opted for shared accommodations for the first time in my travels. I was not let down. In typical Swiss tradition, the shared facilities are absolutely immaculate and for 30-some Swiss Francs a night you couldn't find better value a. Perfect location with beautiful surroundings, eating breakfast (the fresh bread is amazing!)on the patio overlooking the mountains, close to first mountain (which I would recommend aswell as the first fleigher), beds were comfortable & we had a lovely view from our window of the mountains. Also it was basically the only affordable place for us. the view is beautiful , and close to the cable station, good location for you to explore Grindwald. the room is very comfortable and clean. The staff is nice. They will offer you the city card when you check in which you are able to take bus for free. Particularly liked the dormitory area and the fact that whenever possible each guest is given two bunks if space allows. Breakfast very good value and evening meals adequate. We loved the location of the hotel. The most specular view from the windows. The breakfast is delicious. The staff and friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing! They need to stop giving wrong Jungfraujoch weather information. Local weather and Jungfraujoch weather can be different. Nothing to dislike... Bathrooms are shared which obviously isn't as great as having your own but it was a great place to stay!. It was a bit far from the train station and mostly uphill. Location is a bit far from the train station, up the hill on the main road. Hotel advertises 600m distance from train station, but it's more like 1,600m. Hotel offers a free bus pass, but this doesn't help when you first arrive and are carrying a lot of weight... On of the mattresses was really uncomfortable. Lots of bugs. Pillow is too soft. It's quite walking distance to hotel. Too dark in the room. Basic but all good. Hotel is a little way for walking from the train station.. We didn't realize that the bus stopped running around 7:30 PM so we ended up having to walk up hill (about 4 bus stops to get to our hotel room.. And it happened to rain that evening so that was not fun.. This is not a take away if you pay attention to the last bus schedule to the hotel from the train station. It wasn't clean (the sheets and pillows) and it was very nosy!!!. Toilets and Showers out on landing. Expensive as in Switzerland. nothing special. Really, really bad food Room a bit warm even with windows open.
