The initial service at Reception, it was very welcoming and we appreciated the Mobility Pass for the Tram and Bus services,. location, very friendly staff. Waking up and looking from our room window onto the River Rhine.Fantastic. location and views, clean, nice breakfast. Great location overlooking the Rhein. This hotel has an amazing view, is clean, has a good restaurant right on the Rhine offering Swiss fare, professional, friendly and helpful staff; on-site parking, guest access to internet on a common computer. Execellent central location right on the river next to the "Mittlere Bruecke". Restaurant with large terrace overlooking the Rhine river.staff very friendly and willing to help whatever the question. The balcony over looking the river was a nice touch.Being allocated a view of the River Rhine. This is a neat clean 3 1/2 star hotel in central location to city centre, attractions and central station with great views (if you get a room with Rhein view). the location of the hotel is walking distance to a lot of stores and near cites to see and public transportation. Great location for city centre and museums. Lovely views of the riverfrom our room.The person at the reception desk the evening I arrived was very nice and helpful. The hotel is in a good location as it's only a five minute walk to the old town. The view from the hotel across the river to the old town was a nice sight. The car parking was limited, but was very useful (although the 25CHF per day may be excessive for some people, but is probably normal in some Swiss cities. We had a good room through LetsBookHotel.com which was probably better value than booking direct. It was central with plenty of things going on around. There was good parking. location location location. a fair, 3.5 star hotel, at a -for switzerland- reasonable price. The hotel is realy in the center of Basel!!. The noise from nearby night club that transcended through the walls of hotel and did not stop until 6am on the Frid and Sat nights. Lack of bread toasting facility at breakfast. This needs addressing !. wireless cards were not available from the night porter so no internet access in the room when I wanted it. Small points: We wish more hotels offered free internet access in rooms (the Merian does not). Also would prefer a fitness center on site rather than offsite at another hotel.The prices are very high for a hotel of this category. it is a minor thing.....but they did not have any newspaper in english, every newspapers were in german. During the last carnival night the hotel was in a very noisy locationuntil 4am. Might have been nice to have a warning about this. The wake-up call: I fixed a call for 7:15 and I didn't get it until 8:00. The person at the reception desk in the moring claimed that he tryed but I did not answer, which is not possible.Check-out was delayed, could do with an extra person on the desk at busy periods. The bathroom was too small. It had a small bath and only just enough standing space for one person. It also had one of those plastic shower curtains that stick to you when you're in the shower.Trying to find it! Signs in Basel not good and one way system didn't help nor did instructions provided with booking!. Gloomy lighting throughout. only the bathroom have bad smell. The bar was very quiet. bathroom (tub) could be larger, richer mini-bar. I had a room on the fith floor and the elevator was out of order!. We were given a single room instead of the double room we booked. After insisting, we finally got a suitable room.
