location is brilliant. so easy to explore the city. everything within walking distance, even metro station. room was good + good value for money. loved the cultural vibe of Madrid. this was our first day in Europe/Spain & started off terribly, but both Raul & Reuben were absolutely amazing! they could speak english and sorted out our problems with shuttle service who had ridden off with some of our bags. they helped us retrieve our lost luggage at airport. I cannot praise them highly en.
all reviews » Up to the moment I entered the hostal I didn't have great expectations. Once inside the room I felt very spanish and ready to conquer the world. Extremely cosy, warm, very clean and friendly, well located, close to Gran Via and therefore close to everything in Madrid the hostal offered us the best opportunity in Madrid for feeling excellent. For people willing to go to Madrid I would kindly suggest to have a very pleasant stay at hostal America. We have stayed here 2 times in 2011 and love the position. The room was small with no view but the position makes up for this. Love the roof top balcony so you don't need to stay in your room. We had our dinner one night on the balcony. Very relaxing after the crowded streets and restaurants. The hotel is located within 5 minutes from Gran via metro station and shopping venues. There are a lot of cafes, restaurants on the street. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and the hotel provides good services in general. It was very clean, the staff were friendly, the room had everything necessary. There is a shop next door where you can buy anything you might need. Most of the tourist attractions are in the walking distance. Very good value for money. I liked the location, the kindness of the Staff, the facilities of the room ( double bed, air, conditioning air,wifi, plasma tv). Staff were amazing and very helpful. The room was a bit small, but for me it wasn't a problem. The towel weren't very cleaned, they had hairs inside. When they washed bathroom I found hairs as well. Very small room and noisy at night overlooking the busy street. can be noisy at night. none. The shower was not very hot but it was certainly not cold. Very minor problem and not worth making a fuss about. Noisy - paper thin walls. Noisy from the neighbors. Walls a bit thin. Except the pillow. Rooms are small and not very well furnished. Every time I went to my room some one will open the main door and no fire escape instruction in the room. Room is small. Staff were unfriendly. Had to leave our key each time we left the place which was awkward as we were staying on the 4th floor and reception was on fifth floor. It was also a little smelly and sometimes quite loud.
