The location must be one of the most culturally interesting in Europe. The Parador itself has been renovated to the highest possible standard, has a small number of rooms and is extremely exclusive. The cuisine is excellent with traditional andalucian dishes given a modern European twist. The terrace overlooking the gardens and the Generalife is one of my favourite places ever, cool and calm with a fabulous view. A fantastic honeymoon destination.
all reviews » All of it. Friendly helpful staff, lovely room, well cared for ancient building and gardens, great restaurant, buffet breakfast one of the best I've had. We went in the off season - Dec 2013 so had substantial discounts. We'll go back again at this time of year. The staff also made sure we got to the Alhambra on time - the palace has strict entry times. We would have missed it without the front-desk staff organising the visit for us. I stayed there for my honeymoon and mentioned it to staffs while I booked it. They provided me a bottle of wine and a dish of dessert for free which made us extremely happy. Unforgettable location and good service. Someone may complain its small size and old facilities, however need to make sure that this is the parador inside the famous Alhambra palace. Staff: everyone was different; all were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and lovely. Each of them impressed me and helped me quite a bit with local and distant trip planning/travel and transportation, while kindly indulging my insistence as an american in attempting to speak only Spanish with them. The "didn't likes" pale into insignificance when one considers the location, the history, the view of the generalife, the parking arrangement, the food service and the quality of meals at breakfast and dinner, which made this a memorable accommodation experience of a lifetime. The luxury of staying in the heart of the Alhambra. The shower (showers in Spanish hotels are not always crash hot!) and the big bed and the view of the Generalife. There was also a complimentary bottle of cava in an ice bucket and aplate of petit fours. Peaceful, exceptional setting, wonderful buildings and gardens. Unfortunately our stay was too short to avail ourselves of all that was on offer, in the hotel and in the Alhambra itself. The location and the fact that the staff at reception got us tickets for the Alhambra immediately on arrival. The food was exceptional with vegetarians and coeliacs catered for. We wantes the old part and were upgraded to a suite as compromise. Celiaco gluten free restaurant is gormet for everyone and safe for celiacs. Made Alhambra tickets easy. We were upgraded to a fantastic suite, at the very top of the hotel (204): fantastic Location and restaurant were great Personnel very friendly and helpful. Easy access to the Alhambra. The ease of being able to be in the Alhambra right out your doorstep is helpful however with the cost point I do not think the Parador is the right choice for many travelers. The location and dinner at the restaurant, also the bedroom and the massage shower. The dinner menu and breakfast were good and catered well for my dietary requirements. The Parador is quite expensive with rooms from e350 per night without breakfast. There is no preferential access to the Alhambra monuments, you still need to book weeks ahead to be sure of getting the slot you want. They can book general daytime tickets at reception, but the more exclusive tours still require to be booked in advance. At this price I would expect some priority. There was really nothing I disliked, nothing I would change. I would go back in a heartbeat. The layout of the bathroom could have been improved to accommodate toilet bags, the air conditioning could have allowed a lower setting, the room could have had more storage room for clothes, the directions to get through the automatic gate at the bottom of the hill were hard to find. Menu was limited and there really isn't anywhere else to eat that is convenient. Also the fridge in our room did not function properly. The front desk said they would look into it and thanked us for reporting it. Nothing - what is there not to like?. Loved everything. Hard uncomfortable bed.Hard pillows. Hotel staff were aware that it was not possible to find the hotel using a sat nav, but did not convey this information before arrival. It would be very easy to add this to any booking form made on the Internet. the only down-side would be that the room wouldn't have been practical to stay in for a length of time (eg no drawers) but for one night was good. The food at dinner (and the cost of dinner). The lack of explanation on the historical sites within the Parador, which we realized when we left only. The guided tour in Alhambra, which we believed was private (and we were with 85 year-old parents...). Expensive for size of room Restaurant dinner very expensive for decidedly average food. wasnt easy to find hotel, sign where not that clear. A bit hard to find, the signs could have been better. Restaurant was not of an acceptable standard for a four star hotel. seemed understaffed... nothing at all. front desk staff should be younger, the old ones do not know about wifi or iphone use at the hotel. Yes the ones we interacted with were friendly but at $400 a night you expect way more than just friendly. The rooms were very bare and our fridge did not work. It does not warrant a room price over 150 EU a night. Service was slow and inadequate except at the restaurant, though one reception staff member was friendly. The dining was being set up for breakfast while some tables had barely started dinner. Concierge staff uninformed, unmotivated and unable to communicate in English. Partly heated hotel (savings?) in February when temp was a few degrees above zero. Uninspired catering Location of hotel means having to take taxis to go anywhere. Lack of 5 star professionalism by staff, particularly males in the main restaurant.
