This family-run, eco-friendly hotel is within 200 metres of Las Ramblas and Plaza Catalunya. All rooms are made of natural, organic materials and painted with PVC-free paint. All rooms at Hostal Grau have a private bathroom with free toiletries made from natural sources such as lavender. Some rooms have a balcony; while others face a vertical garden. The hotel also has one OFF room with a reduction of electromagnetic radiation; and the whole building boasts environmentally friendly design, energy efficient lighting and a water recycling system, as well as using renewable or clean energy. A range of ecological wines, as well as free natural teas and infusions, are available from the on-site lounge. The MACBA Modern Art Museum is just 350 metres from the guest house, and Port Vell Harbour is a 15-minute walk away. Direct buses to Barcelona Airport stop in nearby Plaza Universitat.

The hotel was in a great location! Right near the Rablas and metro. Thehotel was very comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay thereagain. CAn't beat the price either. Friendly, and very helpful staff who all spoke English. Although no tea making facilities, staff found us a kettle and cups. Good door security. Staff on duty 24 hours. Traditional Spanish decor with a homely atmosphere. High standard of cleanliness. Freshly decorated rooms all with air conditioning. Spacious shower. Very central but quiet location only 2 minutes away from la Ramblas. Loved it.

It is right next to the placa catalunya metro station and The Ramblas and the airport bus. We had been staying further up the coast and this was our stopping off point before flying home. Very nice, clean hotel. I came to see Barcelona, the hotel served itspurpose. It was in the heart of the city. Of course, it comes with aprice... It gets noisy at night. But this is Barcelona!. stuff was very friendly, and rooms comfortable. room little bit dark, but in that kind of neighbourhood that's a common thing. staff and computer for internet use, en suite. very good situation - close to the Ramblas. located in centrum, atmosphere, clean. convenience of the location. Unfortunately we were in an apartment on the fourth floor and there is no lift, however, the location, staff friendliness etc more than made up for this. We have recommended this hotel to friends and they have enjoyed their stay there. No elevator, no tv. There was no hair dryer in the room, I had to askfor it. But this was very minor.constant noise outside (didnt realise it was going to be so noisey at night. (voices and public, minimal vehicle noise. too thin walls, noise from next-door room sunds as in our. wish they had shampoo, and phones in the rooms to be able to call the front desk as well as other rooms. For some reason they had made a mistake with our booking, and although we clearly had a booking for two rooms, they only had us down for one. They did however offer us an alternative.Breakfast is served in cafe for smokers. Room was very small and wallsare so thin that you can hear all guests in rooms around you. Very dark, no fridge.Construction nearby--very noisy during the day. room was very very basic.

We are located in the city centre approximately 15 minutes walk from the harbor and 25 minutes from the beach. Both can be reached by metro or bus.

The hostel is situated in the upper parts of the old city, made up of quiet narrow streets with little traffic.

Directions to the hotel:

- from the airport either takes the aerobus from outside the terminal building or a train from the renfe station. The closest stop to the hostel on both the bus and the train is plaça catalunya. The last bus leaves the airport at 11:00 P.M. And the last train leaves at 10:41 P.M. The journey takes 20 to 30 minutes.

- once in plaça catalunya, take carrer pelai (next to el triangle shopping centre). Take the first street (carrer jovellanos) on the left (next to “pull & bear” clothes shop).
Follow carrer jovellanos to the first crossroads. You will see Bar-Cafe centric on the right. Hosteria grau is next door to the bar.
