This is one of those places you don't want everyone to find out about because it'll be fully booked when we want to go back! The apartment we were in was a large 2 bed apartment with all the mod cons you could think of, 3 huge TV's, dvd, Sauna, steam shower, jacuzzi bath with wine fridge in reach, oven, microwave, coffee machine, fridge freezer, wifi, heated floors - I could go on!!! Everything was to hand and it's a 3 minute walk to the main street. There are 3 supermarkets in walking distance.
all reviews » The facilities were exactly as described and more - our apartment was well-equipped and very spacious. For a group of friends visiting Tromso, this was the perfect lodging solution as we were able to save money cooking some of our meals. The staff at Viking Apartments were also very informative and always willing to help in any way possible. They even gave us free waffles before we left! It was an absolutely fantastic value for money, and I will definitely recommend Viking Apartments to my frie. Flat was clean and welcoming. We had two rooms, one double bed bigger than other but also had sofa bed for fourth person in our two bedroom apartment. Kitchen and bathroom roomy and had good appliances. Apartment had pay TV but no DVD as described. Apartment was in a great location, easy to ask for a cab through the hotel. Good dining area and wi-fi good as well. Would stay again. Nice location. A big supermarket as well as city center are very close to the appartment. The appartment is quite big so that we had enough space to play board game and so on. Nice kitchen and modern equipments, but only one restroom. good location close to harbour, museums, shops and restaurants, nice to have kitchen facilities (Norway is expensive), TV/lounge and privacy. We were a couple and mother-in-law and it worked really well. This is the most fabulous place I have ever stayed. The apartment was just gorgeous. Tromso is lovely and to top it all off, 2 nights of seeing the Northern Lights made this an amazing stay. The 2 bedrooms apartment we stayed is newly renovated and have a well equipped kitchen (including a dish washer). Less than 5 minutes walk to 2 supermarkets Eurospar and Joker, Polaria. Nice clean modern apartment with well equiped kitchen. Nice bathroom. Convenient for shops and centre of Tromso. Only 400 metres to airport shuttle stop. Staff were always helpful. Ad on app lists a DVD player, when I told reception at the Viking Hotel DVD was missing, they acknowledged this, but didn't do anything about it. Not a big deal, but don't advertise if don't have things. rooms not huge but perfectly adequate. We had to walk up outside stairs in snow which could be challenging for less mobile people, but they seemed nice and friendly, so I imagine if you tell them when booking they would do their best to help. No Bad Points. It's kind of expensive as there is no service provided during the period of stay. The bedroom was a little bare, could do with a bit of colour or even a picture. Nothing. The kitchen is a little lacking - very basic supply of cooking implements! No extras like oil, pepper, sugar etc - only some salt, so if you are staying for only a few days you have to buy in and of course end up leaving most of it! Also ice, the apartment we stayed in was on the hill behind the hotel - the ground was covered in ice which made for a lot of slipping and sliding!. We were in lower ground floor so was a bit dark with no views. I hear the other apartments have bigger windows with views. But not really a problem it was dark most of the time anway. There were Internet problems in our apartment and the entry to our apartment was sketchy. Nothing we didn't like. no table to eat on, we asked specifically for 3 beds but as there were only 2 double beds we had to use sofabed , linen arrived only after we asked, bathroom door came off its hinges!!! paying for hotel parking was a rip off. Bed was not as comfortable as I had wished. I slept well only one night. They didn't service the apartment in the 6 days we were there (a towel change would have been nice) Note: We didn't ask about it - maybe an abnormally. It was a shame that the main room had no window, we were in a basement. The sound proofing was awful. There seemed to be constant footsteps from the flat above which did disturb sleep. If we came again we would request a top floor apartment which I presume would get rid of these problems. Bedroom was small for two people Sound insulation not great. It had only one bathroom. The wifi was not working during our stay. They didnt clean the apartment any day, or try to clean it, in all 7 days we were there. Also, path outside the apartment is barely gritted, so you'd walk on about 4 inches of ice - very dangerous. Other paths on nearby streets are ice-free, why not outside the hotel/apartments?!. The shower,very poor quality one of the worst i've had on my many travels definetey not a power shower. Nothing. No instructions for hi tech stuff like shower, coffee / drinks machine, jacuzzi or cinema system. no microwave. Noise from other residents on long term lease; no bedroom heating. Unlike the photos on the listing, our 2 bedroom apartment was tiny. The kitchen had enough equipment but the microwave was on top of a 1.8m high fridge/freezer as there was no other space for it. There was nowhere to sit and eat except the sofa. The DVD player didn't work. It seems like the size and quality of apartments varies widely; ours - the Blue apartment -was not good value (even taking Norwegian cost of living into account). Maintenance of the appartment was poor lots of light bulbs were not working made the apartment very dim, which was a pain in the middle of winter as we need the lights on most of the day. I was also surprised there was no microwave oven. There was renovation work going on everyday in the floor below and it was very noisy. Sometimes the water gets cut off. Tiny rooms and beds. No storage in one of the bedrooms. Very little sitting space. The price was extremely high for the space.
