I would describe the furniture in the room as functional, it is certainly better than basic it is very clean with a small balcony overlooking the chalets and camper vans below and more importantly a wonderful view of the fjord. Free wifi, code from reception. Did consider going into Geiranger for dinner but so glad we had a look at the 275 nok per person buffet on offer in the 6th floor restaurant with panoramic view. Food was 1st class and you could eat as much as you wanted. Breakfast was als.
all reviews » Location is amazing, we were in one fjordview room just in front of the fjord. However there is a camping in front of the hotel, so I guess it's better to stay at higher floors in order to enjoy the fjord even more (we were at 2nd floor out of 6). Breakfast is a complete buffet, you can dind everything you want, and the woman at te reception is very kind and helpful. Prices are not expensive taking into account the high prices in Norway, and it's worrh paying a little more for the room with fjo. We reserved two rooms, one of them with amazing fjord view. From the balcony, we enjoyed the maganificent Geirangerfjord, seeing the ferries and cruises going by, people kayaking. Breakfast was very good. Free wifi. Free coffee and tea service on top floor. Dinner buffet on top floor was as excellent as the panoramic view-- 275 NOK per person . Remember to reserve a table by the window the moment you check in once you decide to try it. The location is terrific. The rooms with the balcony and the view on the Fiord allow to privately enjoy a wonderful panorama of Geiranger Fjord. Obviously they are not cheap, but they are worth the price. The rooms, clean, are sufficiently spacious and very bright. The restaurant - located at the 6th floor with a beautiful view on the fiord- offers an evening buffet of good quality. Parking the car is easy. Had great room on top floor, with a large balcony and parking at that level. Fantastic view over Geiranger Fjord from room - could watch all the cruise liners come in and out. The hotel's location is spectacular - no other word can describe it. We had a room on the top floor, and our views over the Geiranger fjord was amazing. It's just outside the main town, so although you're within easy reach of all the amenities, you don't feel cramped by hordes of tourists, especially when the cruise liners dock. The Grande Fjord Hotel is a family run business that is nothing but extremely helpful and hospitable. Our only complaint is that it isn't in the town center (about 15 minute walk away), but the views from the room are spectacular. I would highly recommended it. Bedroom and bath are spacious, comfortable, clean, and quite. Breakfast is very good. They serve buffet for dinner. Food is good, but no soup. The hotel is situated by the side of famous Geiranger fijord. Both bedroom and resturant offer fantastic view. Excellent location with fjord grand views from your own terrace. It is about 20 minutes walk from the center of Geiranger town if you do not have your own wheels. Dinner buffet was indeed good. Rooms are satisfactorily comfortable but not luxurious. This was our most favorite hotels during our visit to Norway. The room was romantic, spacious with comfortable beds, a balcony with mind blowing views. The breakfast was very good. Dinner starts at 7:00pm, too late for guests. We were tired and hungry after a whole day exploring beautiful scenic spots, and we'd like to have dinner earlier and rest earlier. The cruise ships come in a bit early and make terrible noises with their hooter and dropping their anchors! Trying to find location to the hotel wasn't the easiest. If tourist information not open, would have been very difficult. The ti was perfect in giving directions. Price. just a heads-up, the hotel is not located in the town, if you come from north, it's right down the mountain, about 1 km east of the town. No refrigerator. Some of the staff surly and indifferent. Charged us an extra NOK 90, due (they said) to exchange rate. We didn't understand and neither did receptionist. No other hotel did this to us. letsbookhotel.com please note. nothing. The price was very unclear and differed from the bookings.com price by around $90 bc of an extra bed for a 3 year old. The furnishings are also very dated and could certainly use updating. Basic rooms. Grumpy neighbours. They don't have family rooms so my wife and I had to sleep in separate rooms with the children. It's expensive for the price charged. The hotel is old and needs a renovation... my room was small and untidy... and it was at the ground floor with a only partial sight of the fjord... but I still paid full price...
