Hotel ideal for the traveler needing to stay at Schiphol airport for a lay-over or early departure. Hotel features electronic check-in, check-out, practical lobby bar with take away food and beverages. Rooms done in a futuristic design. All utilities are remote controlled. Elderly traveler might face problems here. Very well priced for the location, which is a 3 min. walk to the terminal building.
all reviews » I walked out of the airport, looked to the right and there was the Citizen M. I walked for about 2 minutes and the covered, lighted path led me right to the door of the hotel. I checked in electronically...with an helpful staff person at my side in case I had questions. Loved the free movies, loved the comfort of the bed. Despite being right next to the airport - I didn't hear a single thing.Simple and efficient, and but a short walk to the terminal. Perhaps no the best for longer stays, as the room is a bit small. Free WiFi--why don't other hotels that charging for this is like holding you hostage, all so they and the provider can make some money on a highly marked up charge on what should really be as much of the infrastructure of the hotel as is a bed or a shower?!?. Being able to stay a 5 min walk to airport is great for morning flights out. I was able to check in late morning day before my flight back to Canada and then spend the rest of the day enjoying Amsterdam - a short train ride away. It was much cheaper than staying in old Amsterdam and I didn't have to pay for a baggage locker to leave the bulk of my luggage in. All round a good choice.We walked from the airport with luggage easily . Look right from theexit of the airport and you see the hotel.Very clean,nice,FUN. Soundproof.Bigger than I feared.Huge bed soft clean pillows, sheets.Nice wi-fi,good movies free,really fun to play with everything and cheap localcalls.Easy check out,great view, value for the location very high. The shower was a bit scary - once inside the cubicle and the shower isturned on, there is no where to escape to if the water comes on too coldor too hot!. Some teething problems with new fixtures. Probably too electronic for most folk, but amusing anyway.The walk to the hotel is a bit inconvenient in bad weather, but it is a short distance. More variety of food would have been nice. I watched some movies, but strangely they would stop about 3/4 of the way through and I was sad, because I had been sucked in then I was robbed of the ending. :(. The king size bed was wall-to-wall, and consequently reading in bed was difficult. It took us hours to find out how to dim all the lights. Also, first I put a towel over the little machine that controls everything to stop the glare, only to find out much later it could be taken from the wall.Wish the parking was a bit closer and cheaper, but that's more the airport's fault than the hotel's. No. This is a wonderful hotel. I have been raving about it to everyone who'll listen.Taking a shower is a chilling experience: have to get in, close the doors, and get half a heart attack before you get warm water....good for your blood circulation, but annoying. No breakfast included, even though you can get coffee and some foodin the bar.Our tv remote had some issues with the channel buttons. Since it doesn't have a big space for dinner, I found there was very few selection on the menu for breakfast.It is a further walk from the terminal than I expected. The Sheraton is closer. I also didn't realize that I'd have to pass through Customs in order to reach the hotel. This could be a problem for people traveling on visas. Especially if they don't realize they need a temporary transfer visa. The breakfast possibilities; there was not much choice for fresh bread/croissant/toast with cheese or marmelade.It was an enjoyable experience. Some of it can be dauntingly futuristic like the shower - I couldn't get it to work (inspite of closing the glass doors of the shower tube as tightly as I could)!. Needed better telephone use instructions in room. Shower and toilet in a unique design, situated inside the room. You got to see it to understand. Some people might be uncomfortable with this lack of privacy.No one was working breakfast area as promised by 6:15; Room was a little tight for space to open suitcases. we thought that there would be a fully covered pathway leading to the airport. one could get wet if it rains when getting on or off a cab/car.The only issue I had was that I asked for an email receipt and I never received one.
