I really liked the location of the Hotel Matuchi, in the center but not noisy. The room was very clean and well decorated, the forniture was cozy and functional. Personnel was extremely friendly and willing to make our stay confortable and pleasant. The Hotel also have a lovely maroccan style lounge bar and a restaurant. I can just strongly recommend this accomodation, also for its convenient price.

Only a minutes walk to the town square, with shopping, restaurants (cafes) and grocery stores. The location is fine, the staff is very nice and cordial, the room is big. Very welcoming, easy access to all that Maastricht offers, very clean. Comfy bed and plenty of instant hot water. Nearness to town centre. The reception is in the Shisha bar and you have to carry your luggage through the middle of it. It's not really a bad thing, just gets you off guard. Having to walk through the dark bar to check in was a bit bizarre and the toilets for the bar were unclean. Wi-Fi didn't reach the top floor of the building, so we had to sit in the Hookah Lounge to get online. There was a lot of noise in the night because of the heating. Nowhere to hang coats and clothes. Steep stairs, no lift, so only take small luggage. Keys had to really be "jiggled" to open doors. Bathtub shower knob would not work. Stairs a bit steep for us oldies but willing staff carried the cases. Very steep stairs from entrance, no parking, dodgy area. Strong perfume left in bar/restaurant and entrance from flavoured tobaccos in hubble-bubble pipes in bar. We had a first floor room on the street side above the stairs. There was a lot of noise from people in the street and people coming up the stairs. Locks don't work - we got locked out of our room and had to sleep elsewhere. The lock on the exterior door to the hotel is also unreliable. steep stairs lack of furniture for storage of luggage. Noisy hotel, wooden floors and stairs, slamming doors, loud dance music on the Thursday night. Very steep stairs. The room is very dark, gloomy. Only 2 (!!!) small lamps in the room facing the wall in a couple of meters in front. The third lamp was removed from the lamp - ridiculous! The impression of good location was absolutely killed by the grim room. Do not recommend!.
