Once home to British colonial officers and local administrators, this wonderful 1920’s property has been completely refurbished to offer a comfortable, modern hotel, whilst maintaining most of its Anglo-Malay architectural essence.
Typical of the colonial era, it is uniquely dressed with beautiful Victorian windows and private balconies, which contribute to a memorable atmosphere and luxurious comfort and charm. Around the hotel you will find little lanes with rustic cafès where you can have a cuppa (or three) and some local fare.
Located in the heart of Penang, this heritage building is strategically located to all major shopping centres, tourist sites, the financial district and corporate towers. The hotel is also very near Georgetown City and 15 kilometres from the Penang International Airport.

I loved the style of the building, all that polished wood is very luxurious, and the huge verandah was lovely. Nice renovation of historic building.Counter check in Staff very good apart from grumpy man sitting in a room behind a window watching staff who was not helpful. The swimming pool was very nice. The rooms are fairly pleasant and the attached balcony large although the first room assigned to me had serious plumbing problems which could not have been unknown to hotel staff. all reviews »
Rooms were very clean and looked good. swimming pool was a nice touch. location only. The building is actually quite pretty. Location is very central. The pool and the location being near many restaurants. Use of the internet facility (just one terminal) was extortionately priced, and the network was down for most of the time I was there, so I didn't use it anyway. One day they ran out of tea bags.Very basic breakfast, worst coffee I've ever had. Rooms are furnished in a very cheap basic way. Hotel lacked any "atmosphere” You get what you pay for! NOt the greatest location. The "colonial era" atmosphere was not greatly felt partly because of the way in which the property has been renovated and partly because the neighbbourhood has probably changed since the structure was first built. Reception staff also appeared to be a bit under-trained.the reception staff were of no help to us during our stay, english was very poor. simple questions couldnt be answered. extremely rude and un-caring towards us. The most disgraseful attitude was from kitchen and some waiting staff. Who sat and had breakfast before paying customers had any. they literally took the food from under our noses. 1) The a/c only runs quietly for 3 hours max. After that it has a loud rotor sound. We keep having to wake up at 2am to shut it off! 2) there is no remote for the a/c and therefore only one temperature: freezing. 3) there is insufficient carpark spots. They will ask you to double park and if you car blocks another guest's, they will wake you up and ask you to go to the front to remove your car! 4). Many things: No toilittries or water provided in room; hangers and toilet paper only upon request, no control for A/C (which was very noisy), hot water boiler, but no tea, coffee or water to boil, no paper/pen, small bed, dirty room, hair in bed and bathroom, breakfast very limited (no fruit, juice or varity), small (not balmy) balcony, with chairs only upon request, no refrigerator.
