It is the best location for visiting Petra. It is the only hotel right at the gate of Petra. It has a Cave Bar & Restaurant where everyone goes after Petra by Night, as well as most evenings. It's the most happening place in Petra. There's also a great outdoor patio for warm nights. The rooms are clean, staff was overly friendly. The location is superb; the terrace & cave bar built around genuine Nabotean caves full of atmosphere; spacious & very comfortable bedrooms; very helpful & nice staff … I have a walking disability so the location was particularly important for us. Access to the hotel has ramps, disabled loo in the lobby, but the main section of the hotel was closed for the season. Those are the only rooms that are easily accessible, so I still had stairs to climb t. The Petra Guest House, is the closest to the entrance to Petra. Half the price of the Movenpick (which is 100 yards further down the street). The staff were friendly, helpful and compasionate. The room's a/c unit about froze me out. Literally had to turn it off. The room was super clean. Remember the hotel is 35 years old. Everything worked perfectly. Shower, sink, toilet, television, and bed. After 8+ hours of walking, climbing and exploring, it is nice to just walk out the gate and into your . You can't get closer to the entrance of Petra .This hotel is good, new and clean. Food & breakfast is very great. Great value for money. It is build into the rocks in great natural style. The cafe / pub is great for evening entertainment. I've stayed in Kempinski's and Movenpicks in Jordan, but at half the price this hotel offers the same , is smaller scale and doesn't have pool, spa or fitness room, but if you're looking for a great value to place to stay and just visit Petra it has at lea. I loved everything about this hotel. The room was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. There was an outdoor terrace with incredible views. The "cave" lounge was beautiful and built into the rocks of Petra and Wadi Musa. To sit outside and have shisha while viewing the scenery and watching the video of an HD tour of Jordan was sublime. The staff were incredibly friendly and perfectly accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good price, value, location and atm. The greeting staff were excellent. We had a nice dinner at the Cave Bar--expensive-- but the price was normal for Petra. The breakfast we good as well. They also allowed us to have a late checkout, as we entered Petra early, and then needed to shower when we exited. Normal checkout is 11:00am, but they gave us until 1:00pm. We only needed until 12:15pm to be finished, but it was nice not having to rush too much. This is much appreciated. ohhhhhh, i have no words to express my gratitude to all those who made our stay special :-).. The staff was very very helpful and polite, they were always ready to assist, no matter what you required. we had a greattttttttttttttttttttttttttttt 2 nights stay here and i would recommended this place to all my friends, who wish to visit Petra in the near future :-).. We chose the Petra Guest House because of its close proximity to the entrance of Petra. It is literally right at the park gate. The hotel was very clean, well staffed, attentive to details and well priced. The complimentary breakfast had a huge selection and was well prepared. We would definitely stay here again. It was literally at the entrance to Petra.. It is not really easy to take your pram due to sandy terrain in various parts. So I had to carry an asleep baby 2km back from the treasury (main building). I was really glad that the hotel was close. Toilet is very clean and has the bath tub. It is right at the gate of Petra. It is airy and modern. Rooms outside the main building are bigger but further away with some stairs. The atmosphere of the bar which is in the cave is excellent with a lot of space outside in the lovely terrace surrounded by hills and the cave. I am picky and this place is perfect for staying so close to Petra's Entrance. Everything was outstanding. The only suggestion is that internet access should be universal and not "per device," although the hotel gladly added other devices, upon request. I would have given an Excellent on cleanliness; however, the trash bin for the toilet had not been emptied when we arrived. Although I live in Jordan full time (and have lived in other M.E. countries) and am used to this inconvenience, I am from the U.S., so having to throw away toilet paper in a trash bin is bad enough when you are in your own home. It's just plain gross when arriving at a nice hotel to find that the toilet paper trash bin is full from the previous occupants. The only fault I could find was the grouting in the bathroom, Could do with a fresh go over to make it white and look cleaner. But thats the only thing I noticed. Wifi weak to no signal in the room. The only downside was that our in-room safe didn't work, but we just stored our valuables in the hotel safe. Not a big deal, problem solved. It is classed as 5*, though I would argue that facilities wise it is 3*/4* - I.E. no gym/pool/facials for wife. But hey, the hotel is carved into the rock in the Nabatean style. So there would have been an awful lot of digging to have created the above. The only other critique was that there was no lift - thus we had to carry the prams up the steps to the rooms. But again.. an outside life would have spoiled the look of the hotel. Staff - especially the receptionist. I was trying to find my booking reservation paper while he asked about my name. I told him to wait a second, but the receptionist was like "you don't even know your name?" Seriously? And the wifi is very complicated, I booked this place through booking, the wifi should be free. But when I went to the lobby, they asked me how many hours I need. Overall, as a 5-star hotel, I don't really feel any considerations from the staff. &Quot;Petra by night" is not recommended by me, the hotel staff will send you the info and collect money (12jd per pax) / arrange everything for you, but the so called 2-hrs programme ( includes 2x30mins of walking to/walking out of the place) is just many candles as decoration with 2 local guys performance ( a few songs and instrument performance) , which seemed to be not professional/ amazing. The food in the buffet restaurant and snacks in the bar need some improvement and better variety. Bathrooms need better cleaning and maintenance. The wi fi only worked in the hotel lobby area. Entrance fee to the official site of Petra is exuberant (50JD/person/day = approx. 50EURO). Air conditioning could have worked better; never really got cold; no internet in rooms; internet is lobby was sporadic; charged for internet that did not work; bill was adjusted, but if you didn't look at your bill you would have paid for it; drinking water at breakfast not plentiful;. Had a few minor issues with the room, heat cycle on air conditioner not working, also couldn't work out how to switch off one light so it stayed on all night - not deal breakers though. The a la carte meals and dinner buffet were just okay. No a la carte menu in the outdoor Cave restaurant - missed opportunity. Nothing else. If staying in a chalet you will probably become very aware of suitcases running over the outside tiled floor, surprisingly noisy first thing in the morning!. Difficult to access in a hire car as a result of poor signs and the access road crowded with stalls and pedestrians. The finish standard and workmanship in the bungalow was quite poor -- shoddy even. The ala-carte menu is very limited. The room can do with some modernization but it is comfort as it is now. Hardly any personal facilities (pool, gym, etc) The restaurant is basic and there is no a la carte. Difficult access by car, the last 100 meters is though a crowded bazar street. Nothing, it was all perfect. Nothing. The bathroom is a bit dated. The A/C was not very powerful. Would have been great to have a pool. Full payment was requested on check-in. Getting out of the rooms can be a problem during the winter time. Receptionists are not very friendly, and service at the restaurant inside was not good at all, breakfast is a bit poor. n/a. nothing, everything was well organized and added to our splended trip. The customers are treated, like in all Petra and Wadi-Musa, like "machines" to leave money. In the rest of Jordan visitors are treated more friendly, not in Petra. The one concierge who checked us in late at night after a very long journey there and ended up charging double for the rooms we had booked. Luckily on check-out another concierge resolved the issue. The buffet dinner was average, not much choice Bathroom could have been cleaner. No plug for the bath. I'm not joking. Only sufficient milk for one hot drink each. They should have a fitness center, pool or spa. Rooms (bathroom in particular) are quite basic with respect to the price. Advertised use of pool at next door hotel but this was closed for renovation, not a big problem as we had great shower etc .
