There were many things I liked as you can see from the rating. The staff, in particular, were friendly and very helpful. They provide a great map of the surrounding area. If anything was needed, for example my bathroom light burned out, they fixed it immediately. Many of the staff spoke English. The breakfast was simple but got you going for the day. The room was very clean and well maintained. For the price this is an excellent value.
all reviews » This was my second time staying in Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro, but my first time staying in the dorm. It's a great hotel, very clean, free wifi and they have converters at the front desk for your electronics. It's really close to Ikebukuro station and there's a lot of good restaurants around and staff available 24 hours a day. Staaf is very friendly and helpful and English is good! I enjoyed efforts done to give some bed privacy thanks to curtains all around the bed. Good location, nice aera (Ikebukuro) 7mn by subway to Shibuya and hotel close to subway station...Cafe and restaurant included, 7/11 next door = I recommand !. in a fairly quiet area, close to many restaurants, and only a few mins walk to the train station/subway. not sure on how the dorm rooms would be, but our private rooms were fantastic, and no different to other hotels where we have paid over $120 a night. First, I like Sakura hotel reception, They were too kind and also speak English very well that make me easy to contact. Secound, I like the hotel. There are clean and nice atmosphere. I noticed the cleaning staff leaves all room doors open while cleaning. I did not think this was a secure environment. Early check-out (10am), having to pay for a later check-out (though this seems common for Japanese hotels). just a little thing that in the room does not have hair dryer placed in each room. you have to borrow it from the reception and return it as soon as you finish. Small Double Bed. Initially I booked 5 persons in 1 room. Very thin walls and that people smoked in the café. Rooms are very small and in dormitory there isn't plase for luggage. Lot of noise in dormitory!! Impossible to sleep a lot. Very small room. small cramped dormitories, general appearance a bit shabby, no lockers. There is only wifi in the ground floor lobby (as stated in the description) so for travellers who like to use the Internet in their rooms, it may bring you inconvenient. The lobby is actually quite small so you may have to stand to use the Internet during the "peak hours" at night. the cafe need to be in a good secure place. room a little bit small. The internet connection was bad. We looked for bug....Lavatory bowl was destroyed.. . I found Hairs in bathroom, dust on TV counter. Remote tv doesn't work. No hair dryer in room, you can borrow one from receptionist but got to return in the same night. Bathroom is very small. It's very small in dorm room, and no locker for my backpack. The outlet on my bed is broken, I had to charge my phone and camera battery in kitchen instead. Is the worst hostel I have stayed in my life. All the 6th floor smelled like asian food. Dormitories where really small, there is no space for the lugagge. Beds do not have curtains. The hotel has not lockers. Bathrooms were not clean. The worst hostel ever.
