I've spent 8 nights at this wonderful ryokan, with my daugther and a friend of her (both teenagers) and... we really liked everything! Our room was large, comfortable, and full of light. Large futons, nice pillows, heavy curtains to block the light from entering the sleeping room, made us sleep very well. The streets around the ryokan, despite lively during the day, become silent and quite during the night, allowing a deep sleep. We enjoyed both the japanese and the continental breakfast. The s.
all reviews » This hotel is in a really great location. Close to the Asakusa Gate and temple and there are many small shops and restaurants close by. For Tokyo staying in Tokyo as a family of 4 we had plenty of space in a traditional Japanese room. I would stay again without hesitation. We were made welcome instantly, the staff were lovely, and the room was clean and comfortable. The location is perfect for visiting the temple and only a short walk from the asakusa train / subway station. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The proprietors were very friendly to us. We were allowed to store baggage after checking out, to be able to do more sight seeing in Asakusa. Excellent breakfast, both Western and Japanese style. Excellent location in the heart of Asakusa. Staff were very helpful and friendly at all times. We would recommend this Ryokan to anyone visiting Tokyo. It is close to many interesting things to see, plus some good restaurants. We also had a excellent shiatsu top floor above the train station close by. The location of Ryokan Kamogawa can't be beaten and by comparison to other ryokan in Tokyo, its pretty good value. It is not easy to find the first time. Even the Taxi driver was lost (Although this is not uncommon for Japanese taxi due to the complicated address system in Japan). Space is　confined. With 3 futons our room was completely filled, but at least there was still a tiny corner with tiny table and seating cushions from where we could watch TV. There is no view only walls of building with power lines. Tatami is a bit bare /hard. May be its the way it is.... Very noisy - multiple interruptions by guests during the night. Because of language barrier, staff could not provide assistance with day to day trip planning - the mattress was a bit old and soft. Having stayed at other Ryokan around Japan this was a bit different and I would say not entirely traditional but adapted to suit the area which is a major tourist spot.Not really a dislike more of an abservation.
