I feel like living in a kyoto resident's house instead of a hostel. Love the feeling of being inside an old-traditional Japanese home. I was staying in the ladies' dorm. It was tidy, clean and has a lovely balcony. The staff can speak English.
The people were really friendly. Good facilities like a bath and also cooking facilities. I stayed in the tatami mat room which was lovely.all reviews »
I liked pretty much everything. It was a peaceful place with character. I will try to stay there every time I spend time in Kyoto.
location is good. close to a shrine.
Very Fast Internet.
It was hard to find as you cannot see a signboard indicating the guest house's name. Take note that the entrance is a few steps away from the road. Wouldn't find it if I wasn't told by an old lady nearby. The staff are sometimes absent. They weren't there when we checked out.
The only downside was the fact that people smoked outside the building but because of the wooden screens then the smoke blew into the house and smelled of cigarette smoke. I really hate the smell of cigarette smoke so that was bad. Also people talked lots and if you are staying in either of the tatami mat rooms you can hear everything through the paper sliding doors. Bring earplugs!.
I didn't like the color of one of the mugs in the kitchen.
it is a pretty old n ruined house. never imagine japsnese people can be so untidy.
Location no where near the city or transport. The place was completely run down, dirty, and just not comfortable; especially for the price.
