The Grand Prince Hiroshima is definitely a mixed bag. The rooms offer breathtaking views, the onsen is very chilled out and nice, and there's a ferry directly to Miyajima (one of the very best days we spent in Japan was on that lovely island). There's a great view from the bar at the top of the hotel, and even though it's far-ish from town, the bus ride is easy and quick. 1. Beautiful location by the sea. 2. Direct access to Miyajima Island by boat (though more expensive than train and ferry option from downtown). 3. Cheap but delicious oconomiyaki eatery next to hotel, and small convenience store inside hotel. 4. Availability of triple rooms for family with one child.
all reviews » We upgraded to the suite and it was just something from another world!!! We had a window in the bathroom (which can only be described as an infinity bathroom) and we also had a spectacular wall of windows in the bedroom - just AMAZING!!!. Beautiful position near the Hiroshima port, nice view from the rooms. To go to the city centre you can take a bus, ask the reception for the timetables. Take the ferry to go to Mihajma - it's beautiful. The views from my room and the bars and restaurants were spectacular. The boat direct to Miyajima island was very handy, this island is a must visit even in the rain. Food and service good. Lovely hotel, all the things that you expect. Great staff, very welcoming and the level of English was surprisingly high. Grab the ferry over to Miyajima - awesome day out. Very welcoming staff throughout our stay. The room was immaculate and we were very comfortable. The free shuttle bus to the train station was wonderfull also. Staff were very helpful and friendly, The hotel was clean, modern and in a nice position by the water.The shuttle bus into the city was a bonus. The retro rooms need some updating, and even your non-smoking room will smell like smoke - be warned. The breakfast is just not good at all, especially at this price point. It's not in town, so if you stay here you may miss out on Hiroshima itself a little bit. A little remote from city center. Shuttle, city bus and taxi available, but takes up to 1/2 hour. That you had to make an appointment and pay for the Onsen, This information was not written anywhere and dispite going to the Spa reception the previous this was not explained. Very disapointing as I had used 6 or 7 other Onsens around different parts of Japan and I neither paid or made an appointment!!!!THIS Needs to be mentioned in their booking info and room GUIDE>. Nothing. The shuttle bus was not mentioned on the letsbookhotel.com website. This should be added to indicate ease of access to the hotel. N/a, all good. I would have liked to have some arrangement for making coffee in the room instead of only Japanese green tea. The pool was close even if we were in late June ! No indoor pool. Not close to miyajima ferry at all ! Its close to the private ferry (1800 yen per adult one way) but 35 minutes away in taxi from the one who's include with jr pass. Nothing at all! It was a very quiet hotel. Rooms were smaller and not as modern as I had expected. Pool was not easy to access. Location not convenient to Hiroshima city. The location is quite remote. Shuttle service between hotel and JR station is not frequent. The English capability of staff is quite poor. We spent 10 minutes to know about the shuttle service and another 10 for WiFi service. The onsen service is provided with extra charge, a very disappointed arrangement. Cost / benefit left much to be desired. We came from a very nice hotel in Kyoto, which was a much better experience and paid less. Since the Grand Prince cost more, we expected it to be even better. It was not!. The communication is non existant. When I have already booked in and then the next day get a confirmation of a document I recieved some 17 days earlier from Booking The Grand Prince would be the last place I would go back too The rooms stink Especially when I booked a non-smoking and get 2 x rooms for myself and friends that we cant even breath in Not happy Except for the young guy who brought us up to the initial room. He was great. Had to pay surcharge for music in Bar??. Gym, pool, Spa and breakfast are extremely expensive; gym 2100 yen per visit, pool 1500 yen and breakfast 2000 yen. Even the filtercoffee in the room is 300 yen! Roominterior is dated, pictures do not correspond with the room (no view on the sea from the bath). Location very poor, industrial island, distantie to Hiroshima is great. Don't go there!.
