It was centraly located but close to the sea with amazing views. The staff were very helpfull. Breakfast was delicious. Hotel and our bedroom were spotless. Would definatly reccomend to anyone. the elegance and location of this hotel was a high point.a complete breakfast was included and it was delicious. It is central and has beautiful view.Room is lovely. Hotel was spotless inside and out and the views at the back of the hotel are fantastic.Staff were pleasant and happy to help at making our stay relaxed and enjoyable.Also the hotel is central to all amenities.I would highly recommend this hotel.

The menu selection for room service could be improved. No hair conditioner provided, usually comes in tandem with shampoo.poor snack menu at pool. For the price you pay....which was worth the view and service....it would have been nice to have a "real" king sized bed. Two twin beds pushed together is not the same. My husband is 6' 5" tall and his feet hung off the end of the bed. Other than that...the room was lovely. Very spacious and clean.the airconditioning wasn't working yet. need sun umbrellas around pool area, Personally i would like tea making facillitiesin the room. Breakfast was average - but it was off season with few travellers staying, so they hotel may have been scaling it back. Breakfast could have been better: little fresh fruit.no tea making facilities in the room , a pot of tea (cold) in my room including room service was 9 euros!!. No coffee making in the room.The staff was friendly and helpful, but language misunderstandings in making transportation arrangements led to some hitches on our plans. The dining room staff was somewhat brusk. The mattress and pillows were uncomfortable. Some fabric floor covering (area rug or mats) would have been nice. balcony not totaly private.

Completely rebuilt in 1984, the Grand Hotel Royal, is a classically designed hotel, furnished with comfortable sofas, antique chairs and carpets, finely decorated inlaid wood works furniture, marbled staircases, spectacular crystal chandeliers, and deluxe decors.
Large park with belvedere terraces for dancing parties and Gala buffets.
Private beach reachable by lift directly from the hotel.
Sunbathing terraces, free sunchairs, sun umbrellas and towels. Sun beds are at a charge.

Important information to guests

Please note the beach is open from mid May until mid October. Pets are not allowed in the restaurants. Please note that the city tax has to be payed for adults over the age of 18 and will only be charged for a maximum of 7 nights. When booking more than 6 rooms, different policies and additional supplements may apply.

Information about the area

A splendid and famous holiday resort, Sorrento stands on a terrace rising steeply above the sea on one of the most spectacular points of the Campanian coast.

Because of its enchanting position and mild climate, sheltered by the surrounding hills, Sorrento has been a favourite resort since ancient Roman times, (the emperors Agrippa, Augustus and Antonius all had villas here) and it became an elite tourist resort from the 18th century, its hotels welcoming such personalities as Ibsen, Wagner and Nietzche.

Travelling information

By Train: The central station of Naples is connected to Sorrento by the local train line Circumvesuviana. The terminal station is located right in the centre of Sorrento just few minutes walking to the Grand Hotel Royal. The journey lasts about 1 hour.

By Hydrofoil: From the harbour of Naples Molo Beverello there are hydrofoils to Sorrento almost every hour. The port of Sorrento (Marina Piccola) is very close to the centre and to the Grand Hotel Royal. The journey takes about 40 minutes.
