  The Hotel really is behind the Duomo. There was still renovationshappening inside the hotel and road works at the Piazza Fontana, butsomehow, we could hear no noise at all from our room. The rooms were in good condition as well, although most rooms have windows opening up to a narrow alley where you can't even see the sky and you can almost reach out to the neighboring room.

Is just outside the old town in what look like a new business area of Milan. Great breakfast with a lot of options. The room we stayed was in the last floor with no windows, like an attic. May sound weird, but was really cozy and with a fake hera climbing the walls. Great value for money!

Varenna must be o - We were delighted with the welcome we received by Proprietor, Luara. on arrival and from then on with the friendliness of all the staff. Our room in the Villa, overlooking the lake,was a sheer delight, and to receive a cheery greeting each morning entering the dining room started the day off with a swing. All amenities were very good. I had read on a review that WiFi was "crap". This was not the case at all. We have recommended Villa Torretta to two friends and we only arrived back in Australia

  Perfect quiet location. No activities for children. We were glad there were only adults. The food is of very high class but still at a reasonable price. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. There is a short walking distance (trafic no problem for adults who are fully mobile) to town ,Laveno where you will find traditional Italian resturants -... what people say » but avoid the pizza on the market square, even for lunch. We had a totally magnificent holiday for 5 days, totally relaxed luxury. Would like to come - This was quite a surprise because the outside does not impress but the inside is very well done with modern fixtures. We were very impressed with the restaurant especially the degustation menu. The owners are doing it up so the outside will probably be modernized during the quiet season.
