We really enjoyed our stay at the Macliam Lodge, the rooms were clean and comfortable and excellent wi/fi coverage throughout, the breakfast was fantastic and kept us going all day, Maeve was more than helpful, when our car broke down she drove us in to town and offered to drive us to lift the car when it was fixed, She was fantastic and made us feel at home, I would recommend this guesthouse to anyone.
all reviews » Everything. The host, Maeve O'Grady Williams, is a tourism award winner, knowledgeable and passionate about her culture and country. Makes people feel welcome. Rooms are nice, comfortable, light and airy, quiet, easy walk into town centre. Excellent staff, breakfast. Repeat stay, definitely recommended. The owner was very friendly and gave us alot of interesting local knowledge. Our room for 3 was spacious and comfortable. The town was 8-10 mins walk away with good local shops and places to eat and drink. Lovely walk from Port Mcsherry round the coast. Excelllent breakfast. Maeve the owner was brilliant! Good fun, easy to talk to and she runs a wonderful business. The room was perfect for our family of four, very clean and fresh. We loved our stay at Macliam and Clonakilty. Will recommend to any of our friends who may travel. The breakfast was fantastic. Eggs with the yellowest (is that a word?) yokes I ever saw. Delicious and great service. Lovely welcome. Perfect (10 min walk for drunkards) from Fernhill House Hotel and only a hop skip and a jump to the pretty town of Clonakilty. absolutely Mave!!! She's soo "mummy-like" and friendly! i had to travel to Cork the strike sunday and she tried everything she could to find someone that could give me a spin, just not to make me have to book an expensive taxi! thank you for everything!!!. The landlady was fantastic very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us we would stay here any time we where in the area Maeve is a really lovely lady just what you need when you are on holidays. Can't speek highly enough about her. Large clean room with comfortable beds and recliner. Powerful shower in clean bathroom. Property is within 5 minutes walk from town centre along main street yet located in a mature, quiet tree lined neighbourhood. Friendly warm welcome - and sound advice on local attractions. Location was very good for us - a short stroll to town centre. Comfortable room/bed and good shower. Excellent breakfast - freshly cooked to order. The staff were so friendly even dropped us to the hotel where we had a wedding, breakfast was lovely and nothing was to much trouble. Ideal location. Maeve and John could not have been a nicer couple. Had a fabulous stay and will most certainly go back! A pleasure to deal with. Food was quite good. It is convenient to Clonakilty. everything was perfect. Closing the door behind me as I left ;-)). Nothing. There was some difficulties with wi-fi access in our room and it was only available in common areas. credit card machine not working so have cash for here. WiFi didn't work in all areas. If you pay with credit card there is a commision. Becouse it is near main street it can be noisy. No issues. nothing. Nothing. - With windows open, there can be a bit of street noise. Everything was fine. Nothing. The system of payment was embarrassing. Usually when you give card details the payment is taken but in this case it was not. Owner was not keen on taking credit cards, preferred CASH. No receipt was given or offered. Inside of the property was quite dated.
