Car parking at your door, friendly and helpful staff, ok breakfast, spacious rooms - we were upgraded to a suite so had view of river and large apartment - it was great; best place for walking to everything and being right in the middle of local Lyon and the people. Large chain 5 star hotels on business district side and way out of the real Lyon. Use of washing machines a bonus. This residence offered everything we needed and staff accommodated all our requests.
all reviews » Excellent location in Lyon, close to the city and to historical sites. We found the staff to be very professional and helpful and the facilities excellent. Breakfast was good value. Having a small kitchen allowed us to prepare food in our studio rather than always going out to eat. And since we are on the road for a few months, we also appreciated the laundry facilities. A most interesting place, a former convent converted into very nice rooms with kitchen facilities, washers and dryers available, overlooking Lyon and the Alps (on one side, anyway). The walk down the steep hill to one of the main squares is 10 minutes, but 20 minutes up, so be prepared. Free parking in downtown Lyon was great, very secure. The Plum Teaching School (French cooking classes in English) was located 3 minutes from the hotel and was a highlight of our 4 week stay in France. 10Mins to old town, funicular and Notre Dame. Good location for what we required. Would stay again. The location in the city centre. The structure, everything was modern, new and clean. The location of the residence is not central; moreover, there is a tough climbing up road, which could be the problem for the regular people, which do not attend gym twice a week. Good location,good garden. lokation is very central. location, clean, parking. The staff were helpful. It is overlooks the city and is in a quiet area. Location. Everything was good. No aircon (it was hot in Lyon) and, with the window open, some noise filtered up from the park below, but not a significant issue. The view made it worthwhile. Our car gps got us to within 100 meters of the place but it took another 15 minutes to actually locate it, as the 'road' into the hotel is really just a foot path - trust me, it's there. Vehicle access was challenging, but parking onsite was adequate. Also, the bedroom was in a high loft with very narrow stairs and a low ceiling. Wouldn't like to navigate it in the night if I needed to go to the downstairs bathroom. There is a steep climb to reach the hotel, if you have mobility problems or if you are in a wheelchair you cannot go to that hotel, unless you always move by car which is not advisable. There is not air conditioning in the rooms, in the summer this might be a problem. Nothing. I was bitten by loads of insects! (probably just me, my colleagues had no trouble. I found Lyon very warm even though it was mid October - I would think that it would be very uncomfortable to stay without air conditioning during a hot summer. A fan is provided in the room. Had to re-log on to the Internet every hour but everything else was terrific. Not knowing that with these types of residences you need to bring along or purchase some cleaning products so you can clean up the kitchen, these things are not provided. Not their fault we were just unaware. The laundry is not adequately lit or ventilated. There is no iron and the ironing board was decrepit and dirty. It is best to ask for a quiet room. The first room I had was near a restaurant and it was noisy at night. The hotel let me have another room with no problem. Basic breakfast. Breakfast. The room was a little warm and only a small fan to cool it, but we managed. limited parking. Walking to the hotel is difficult because of the slop. The trick is that for 100 euro per day you have to clean the kitchen, throw garbage and do not have any change of linens for a week time. Unfortunately some of my fellow guests were not so considerate returning from their evenings out consequently waking me - but this is no fault of hotel. The sleeping area far too hot and the fan didn't help. Mosquitos at night. Coffee maker didn't work. Lack of character for the room and no cleaning cloths for the dishes which rules stated must be washed plus the walk to town took you through some dodgy streets. Need to buy staff to clean the dishes by washing machine. Rooms have no clima. In hot summer thats no fun. a bit expensive for single room "labyrintic" to reach the room late checkin (16h) early checkout (11h). The location is bad. Although described as being in the old town it is far from the interesting sites, and the surrounding neighborhood is shabby and filled with closed, graffiti covered buildings. The hotel itself is actually a residence for university students attending a language institute. The accommodations are like living in a dormitory. The noise not from the streets actually from inside the hotel itself. Awful noise isolation. Staff could not speak English fluently and communication was difficult.
